I’ve grown comfortable without anyone
After trauma and a lifetime of success and difficulty I have no desire for human connection besides work and transactions. I don’t want to connect out of fear of rejection or people asking me for things or sex.
I feel numb to the human experience and don’t fear death. I’m just here and hoping no one speaks to me as I enjoy my island of peace in public. Every difficulty was from interacting with people or letting them close.
I am a hermit and happy, but humans seem social. I’ve been hurt so much that I’m numb and don’t care. What is wrong with me
@littleKiwi2621
do you think your shielding yourself from possibilities or new opportunities? I also am the same but I want to change
If no one speaking to you is the key, then why sign up on a l support group? Join no app, speak to no one. Easy, right??
But easy seldom works. Efforts are what makes us overcome our problems.
Dont wanna trust anyone? Thats fine. But start slow. Share an inch of your thought, take it 1 day at a time. Face it. Overcome it.
We all have been thru alot. But giving in to the despair? Doesnt work.
Just my two cents

One step at a time, I am trying change myself at the age of 76 male with anxiety and suppression plus two mager sicknessess. With many personal Family financial other support and survival.. I am partially handicap but remember, we have no other choices.. so be connected here and God connect you to some who may bring us out of crises. Best of luck🙏

Same
@littleKiwi2621 I used to think I'd end up alone and though I wasn't really OK with it, I thought I could handle that. I spent a lot of time alone for various reasons, some of them totally normal and logistical. Eventually, years later, I found more community. I felt like I was going the opposite direction and wanted more and more connection even though I also felt it made me weaker and more vulnerable.
Neither thing was true but neither was fully false. The numbness could just be a protective measure. But there is nothing wrong with you! We all experience life differently. Yet, there still is a part of you that is not fully numbed to the situtation because you are here now and reaching out! That is a heck of a first step! Keep taking those steps and you just may find that happy medium!
People are definitely social. That's how people support each other emotionally and with resources. Social interaction and societies are necessary to continue the human species. It's also normal to want to take a break from issues that may arise from social interactions. People present a lot of positive and negative stress and uncertainty that can't always be predicted. Enjoy your peace!
