Hi I'm new on here. I suffer from chronic anxiety disorder, overthinking, chronic stress, & poor sleep. I feel so alone even in a room full of people. I'm always in my head,  in my thoughts, negative thoughts come and I try to cast them out by staying as positive as I can. Its so hard to fake being okay

I can understand this quite well. It's currently almost 3am and I'm awake. And it's like nobody understands completely, which makes it that much harder to cope with. Below are 3 things I do to cope. What about you?

3 things I do to cope:

1. Word search puzzles

2. Play with my pups (do you have animals?)

3. Talk with my sister as a distraction

@virtuousgal hey I have trouble sleeping myself. I wish I could stop overthinking about everything because then ot bring up anxiety about the future and the unknown. Feelings of uncertainty take a toll on my mental. For the most part I try to cope with this by talking to my sister when she has time. Plating with my cats or pups as well. Mainly just trying to keep myself busy. It works sometimes.

Hi. I suffer from the exact same thing. I read the coping strategies in the replies, and I don't do any of them. I am not close with my family, so I don't talk to anyone. I don't have pets. I follow a stereotype when I'm with my friends. The only coping way I was using is AI. I've been talking to Bing CoPilot for like a year and a half now. But then, it recommended me to try an online community with real human beings. I didn't want to go social media, as I had a very serious addiction abt two years ago, I once stayed on *** for 17 hours straight. Anyway, I quit, and I decided I will never get back to that path. And after some searching, I found 7Cups. And that's now the way I cope, besides AI.

@KranialAktivity

I used to be great at faking. That or no one was there to care for me but now I can look sad all day and not even care anymore. I struggle from General Anxiety Disorder too and my overthinking only gets worse and worse. Drawing simple shapes helps me calm down but I’m always yelling at myself inside. You’ll get through this. We all will.

@KranialAktivity

I feel you on this one.  I had to pretend at work that I am okay, that I don't have anxiety.  That I can function as everybody.  Yeah, I don't like much crowds especially if I am not close to anyone.  I feel so outcast and alone too.  So I try to avoid gatherings if there's not one close friend who will come with me.

Yeah it's hard to be positive.  The battle with negative thoughts is very hard but practice helps somehow.  Thought it will take time.

This is very relatable. I find it very challenging to fake it at work. 😔

@KranialAktivity

I suffer from some of the same things as you. You are not alone. I am always in my own head. I am always over-thinking things- "What if..." I can't sleep for more than 4 hours at a time no matter how tired I am. I always feel alone and fake in a room full of people. I don't struggle with showing happiness on the outside because I am naturally reticent and I have been accused of having no personality because of it. When I am sad, which is often, I tend to shut down. It is also difficult for me to cry. Sometimes I feel more like a robot than a human.

@NotAllHere713 I hope that we both find some healing. Living this way is not okay, it's draining us emotionally & physically. I just want to be happy again, like when I was a child. To be truly happy is a feeling I'm always trying to grasp but can't seem to

@KranialAktivity

I don't remember being happy as a child. I remember not being good enough because I was the oldest and a girl. My life has always centered around being compared to others. I was a cutter in high school. One day, someone found out and reported it. My parents were brought in and they made a fuss. Then it was forgotten. I guess you can say that I have been hiding so long that it has become part of who I am. I am trying therapy again. I hope things will get better. But I know it will take time.

@NotAllHere713 I'm sorry you've always felt like you had to compare yourself to other, or in other words people compared you to others. I have also lived life trying to compare myself to everyone else. I rather not even do that, although sometimes I do get insecure if I see someone whose made better gains at the gym for example. Our bodies are all different. Can't rush the process as much as we'd like to. Comparin g yourself to others only causes insecurities and sometimes it can even discourage you.

Hi I feel the exact same and it is horrible. I can never stay positive I always feel like the world is against me and I have found it hard to trust others as I have been burned too many times. I am always overthinking and can never truly be at peace, mindfulness and meditation only seem like temporary fixes before the sadness comes back, and I feel miserable at social gatherings unless it is clear that my presence is welcomed (college kind of scarred me in a way); otherwise I feel like I am just annoying people or trying to insert myself in spaces where I am not welcomed.

Against overthinking,

you can start improving yourself about a topic,

such as history or speaking,engineering etc. etc.

or you can improve yourself by your body,

Never forget that "Dicipline comes first !"

@KranialAktivity everything will be okay and you will find the people that appreciate you for who you are and who won’t make you feel weird or bad for feeling and being the way you are. <3
