Weekly Prompt #33: How open do you feel about talking about your anxiety with others?
Hello all and welcome back to another discussion,
A couple of weeks ago we discussed: How are you feeling right now? Thank you to all who participated and shared your thoughts with us. I appreciate you all. I hope all who may read it find it relatable too. If anyone hasn't shared yet, please share them here and I look forward to reading and discussing them with you.
This week's prompt: How open do you feel about talking about your anxiety with others?
The topic of discussing anxiety with others carries a weight of vulnerability and courage. It's not easy to open up about our inner struggles, especially when it comes to mental health issues like anxiety. Yet, the act of sharing our experiences and emotions with others can be a powerful step towards healing and connection. Let's get started and share your thoughts with us.
Also, it is time for periodic feedback on these weekly prompts.
- On a scale of 1-10, how helpful did you find these discussions on anxiety so far? (10 being most helpful)
- What specific topics related to anxiety would you be interested in learning more about or discussing further?

Anxiety is a difficult one to describe when it makes you feel so small. Even the most self confident and efficient people can be shriveled due to the tightening grip of anxiety. It’s even harder to talk about when anxiety loves to take your voice, your breath, your air, all of the very things you need to have a discussion. Anxiety is something that will make you feel everything and nothing at the same time that will startle you to your core. Talking about it can be freeing when discussing it with people that are well educated on the manner. However it seems most people are not educated on the actual power anxiety can hold, the actual rush of feelings and emotions not to mention the physical side effects. You need to find your safe people for discussing these matters or discussing it will do that opposite of help. Unfortunately it seems you always have to know your audience which is easier said than done.
@LexieBoo123 I hear you how you struggle to put into words the overwhelming feeling of anxiety that takes away your ability to speak, breathe, and leaves you feeling both numb and startled. What has been your experience looking for such support? Please know you have all of us here to listen to and support you. you are not alone in this.
I don't usually feel open about talking to people at all much less anxiety. It's not that I don't like people but I'm paranoid, it's not that I don't think that people would listen but I have had bad experiences with telling people things and then being told that I don't feel the way I do and how I feel about certain things being completely over looked. So expressing my self and talking to people about things like my anxiety has been an uphill battle. I think I'm getting better but I still find it hard to talk about this some times.
@ASilentObserver
this is actually kinda what I needed to get off my chest… I have awful anxiety and my parents done care and my sister doesn’t understand. We went to the doctor the other day and my sis was opening up about her wanting an adhd test and stuff and so she got that and so in the car I was trying to talk about getting help for my anxiety. I was rlly proud of myself. But tonight I had another outburst and me and my sister were fighting and she told me that when I told her I didn’t actually tell her and I messed it up. So yea no I don’t know when I’m gonna do that again
