Coping Box πŸ’Ÿ

What is a coping box? πŸ€”

Well, its similar to a toolbox. Every item has a special talent, and will have a very important job. A coping box is full of items that will help you when you are feeling low, angry or a negative emotion.

My coping box would be full of...

... art supplies, stress toys, teddies from my childhood, a few snacks, and my gratitude journal. Maybe, if there was space, I could add a folded up fleece blanket.

Coping boxes change depending on the person. Is yours small? Or is it big? Maybe you dont have one. For those who don't, let's just (for now) pretend that you do.

So, whats in you coping box?

Mine's not a physical box, but my coping box has art supplies and stuffed animals too, as well as music, my weighted blanket, some loose papers/a journal to write in, happy daydreams and happy memories, and a door to the back yard. Sometimes it has a little chocolate too, or my favorite teas.

My coping box is a little magical I think, because it grows when I find new items - say what's this in the bottom of it? Oh, my smooth rocks collection! I'd forgotten about these! I like fiddling with them when I feel anxious because they help ground me. I usually don't need them unless I go out in public.

In the most ethical way possible, I'd place a few of my close friends in my coping box along with some books, journals, stationery, coffee, and some nice movies&tv shows :)

I genuinely love this idea.

My box would have a sugar cookie candle, my cocoa tin (it's empty but has a bunch of little trinkets with nice memories tied to them. Ticket stubs from my first date, these flowers my best friend got me, fortunes from cookies I collect etc.), music on some sort of device, No.6 manga, and the book The Catcher in the Rye.

Awesome idea Jem!

My coping box would have:

- art materials like pens, pencils, markers, paints etc.

- the contacts of friends who can cheer me up

- my capoeira clothes! and a berimbau!

- a mat for meditation and yoga.

- a journal

- a nice music speaker
