I personally have severe anxiety and from that I discovered some ways to cope and to reduce my anxiety. I hope this can help you as well!

1. Take a deep breath and let it out. Breathing properly while having an anxiety attack is very important, because it actually makes you a lot calmer. Just empty your mind, take a deep breath for 3 second and exhale for another 3 seconds.

2.Drink some water. Your brain needs more oxygen supply when you're anxious, and drinking water helps.

3. Accept that you are having an anxiety attack. Don't try to refuse this fact, because it'll make you feel even more anxiety.

How to distract yourself:

1. Listen to some music. This is my favourite technique to distract myself. I usually would listen to classical music. It is very relaxing.

2. Draw/paint/colour.

3. Run laps.

4. Do some sport.

5. Write how you feel.

6. Doodle.

7. Clench your fist.

8. Cry if you have to.

9. Read a book/magazine.

10. Do your hobby!

Some useful websites:

1. Make your own nebula https://29a.ch/sandbox/2011/neonflames/

@Hydrangea03

Hey! Those are some great suggestions. I've battled anxiety for approximately 7 years now. You're so right about the breathing!

There's an app called what's up? That's designed specifically to help with some coping skills, and it's amazing! It has helped me a lot. Has many different breathing exercises. :)

@Hydrangea03 Thank you so much for this list! I would like to add meditation as well; mindfulness can play a big role in reducing anxiety because it helps you to focus on the moment and carry your anxious thoughts away!
