How do you overcome/feel relaxed?

Hello,

brand new here. Been dealing with anxiety for awhile, however, the last few days and especially today, I have literally been unable to feel "normal". Normally, I can listen to music, focus on something else and am able to feel relaxed again. Today has been different. Been feeling light headed and overexcited in my chest. Even nauseous, which isn't uncommon for me, but normally it passes.

How do you guys work to face these feelings?

thank you ;)

@allene14

Hello and welcome!

Anxiety is so damn quirky. Sometimes you know it's there but you can deal with it - you go about your day, you live life. And sometimes it decides it wants to not just hang around you, it wants to hang ON you - and it doesn't seem like there's anything you can do to make it go away - even for a little while.

I think we all have our ways of dealing with it. We find ways that work. And that's probably my best advice - try different things out to find out what works. It'll probably be a combination of things. When I'm in full blown panic/anxiety mode (that awful "I'm going to pass out and the world is ending" feeling), I'm not myself. At all. So I try to find myself in my surroundings. Where is a comforting spot for me to sit? Grab my favorite blanket. Spray some lavendar. Pet the cat. Cry. (Only if I'm alone or my husband is here.) I get a hug from my husband. Just something to pull me away from my freak out and bring me back to a spot where I can start thinking a bit more rationally.

Once I'm "back" I will do a little deep breathing, and then I'll do some meditation. After that I can find a bit of relaxation and maybe just play a game or read something fun - just to distract my brain and keep me relaxed a little longer.

I wish I knew. I have been pretty much in crisis for about a week. I am waiting for a call to start therapy. I have tried everything and nothing works. I'm hoping therapy works. I appreciate everyone sharing. You are not aline.

@chantelle76 do you have people in your life that you feel safe talking to? I learned recently that sometimes people try to "fix" what you're feeling but that doesn't help. I learned to explain that the person needs to just go with me on the emotional journey. They can say supportive things like "yeah that sucks" but not try to say don't"worry, everything will be fine." Because it makes me feel like they're not listening and it devalues my position a bit even though they don't mean to.

i went for therapy and it helped me a lot. I give you few pointers she gave me. She asked me to have a hobby like knitting , reading or anything you like and do it when I'm alone. She also helped me in changing some of my food habits. She asked me to join a course for hobby and also for my financial independence.

Hi,

Im new here, i felt so anxious, depressed or whatever you called it, it feels like I wanted to give up on life but ofcourse i dont have to, i need to fight this feelings, I need to overcome all of this alone. I got married and I make my husband suffered a lot, I dont appreciate his efforts, sacrifices, even if he showed me how much he loves me but I give him headaches in return, I hurt myself before, I hurt my husbands feelings, physically, morally and spiritually....I left my husband alone and came back home in my country, I made a bad decision in my life and Im suffering because I realized how bad I am to my husband, he is good, kind, but I dont appreciate everything he did for me and we are miles away from each other, I really missed him so bad, and he doesnt want to talk to me, he told me Im seriously sick and he wanted a divorce....

you know the feelings that you wanted to be with the most important person in your life- and he just slapping your face by telling you you are seriously sick, I dont want to be with you anymore, I hate you.. its like a double kill to me, everyday and night I felt cold, I dont know what to do, its so painful inside me.

Hey there. I heard CBD oils help to reduce anxiety. Have anyone tried it out? How do you take it, just drinking it? I also heard people use vapes. I found a store vapingdaily, but I'd like to hear from people before ordering anything.
