Mindfulness is Triggering?
Does anyone have any suggestions for coping mechanisms in dealing with stress for someone who happens to have very adverse reactions to mindfulness exercises, such as voice-guided meditation?
Often attempting meditation seems to exacerbate any current stress into a full-blown panic attack, and often brings up visceral memories that had vague associations with trying mindfulness exercises in the past. Unfortunately, trying to find alternatives has been very difficult, so any and all suggestions are appreciated!
@grumpyfrenchfry There are so many ways to be mindful, although certain methods seem to get the attention.
One thing you could try is pick an activity you already enjoy doing. Cooking, any type of exercise, listening to music, having a shower, sitting in a partk, whatever. You can focus on your senses, observe how doing that activity affects your mood and thoughts, etc.

Sometimes, youre right, medication can make it worse. But if mindfulness exercises may seem triggering, it may be best to see like a professional to see what would really work best for someone, its not always easy to figure it out on your own! :)
I thought I was the only one who felt this way, Ive been looking for alternatives too @grumpyfrenchfry

I also thought I was the only one who felt this way. For some reason when I focus on my breath or my body, I start to feel like I'm losing my grip on things. It sometimes ends in panic and almost always ends in a migraine.
