Not sure if I'm in the right thread but...
So technically this is about sleep but I think I may have anxiety too which keeps me up at night and since I can't seem to find a sleeping thread I'll post it here. So, I've been struggling with sleep for a really long time now, at least 6 years I would say but now it's worse than ever. Before I would usually be able to sleep by around 3-5am just before it begins to get light again but now it's gotten to the point where I either can't manage to sleep until about 7-8am or I don't sleep at all.
It's bad because I feel like I'm falling behind on my work and I am missing some morning lessons and missing out on doing things with my friends because I'm too tired and irritable or just sad in the day and quite vacant. And when I finally manage to catch up on this sleep I end up sleeping through the day from like 8am until 6pm, dark until dark which becomes quite depressing after a while and I feel like I haven't accomplished anything.
Should I seek help? If so, what should I do or where should I go etc? I would be grateful for any advice. Thanks.
@Eveea21 Your doctor will probably have some ideas about what you can do. Some people find that medication helps with anxiety and sleep. Some people find that seeing a therapist helps. For very severe sleep problems there are sleep specialists, and if necessary your doctor might refer you to one.
By the way, we have a Sleeping Well forum, but I agree that your question is related to anxiety, so this is a good place for it. There's a list of forums here: Find a forum (I searched for sleep.)

@Eveea21 Dear Evee;
Your condition seems to be a mix of anxiety and depression. Your description fits the DSM-V criteria for both. My recommendation is to visit a psychologist (for CBT, Cognitive Behavorial Therapy), andif things didnt work out, ask them to refer you to a psychiatrist (a doctor that can prescribe medicine). Depression and anxiety are both quite curable these days. One thing to note is that the first step, the hardest step, is to acknowledge that something is wrong and discussing it. Youve already done that! Bless your brave soul. The second step is to muster up the courage to visit the visit the psychologist. Dont worry. You wont be labeled as "insane". Thats just the tv talking. I look forward to hearing about your first therapy session.
Kind regards

@Eveea21 If it bothers you in your daily life and to the point where you feel you need to post to a forum like this, it's probably best you seek medical help.
Good luck!
@ReadBooksDrinkTea
thank you for the luck! I think I will see a doctor about it as it has become too much of a burden on my daily life, I think I just needed confirmation from people here that I should see someone and that I wasn
@Eveea21 That's okay! Sometimes you just need to let it out, either for yourself or to hear from others.
Good luck.
