wish i did- been told the key is to be in the moment
Struggling with this as well. I'm an extreme overthinker. It's exhausting. I'm struggling to practice being in the moment.
I have been reccomended mindfullness, from my experience, there are some things, impossible to untangle, it is better to leave it. Distract yourself, only way.
I feel like something is going to happen. I can't put my finger on it, can't explain why I feel this way. My mind goes in a hundred different directions on what it could be. It's like I am waiting for the other shoe to drop. I have anxiety over something that I don't know what it is or if anything will happen. My logical side is saying theres nothing to be stressed about but my anxiety side says different and that side is the strongest.
@12Sophia12 i just try to keep myself busy at all times really . been doing that for years and it works .. not a very good solution but it does help
@12Sophia12 I have found that walking (especially in green areas), stretching, exercise, listening to music and being physically and intellectually busy in general work. Writing works, but you have to do conscious writing. Do not write whatever happens in your mind but rather do creative writing, maybe a story, a script or an essay, or list things you want to do, or write positive, supportive thoughts (like words you would say to a good friend), or write nice experiences you remember, or do gratitude writing, or write about how do you want to be in five years, or write a letter to a loved one (even if you dont want to send the letter). If you are an overthinker it means you are a smart person and you should exploit that. You also may try learning how to train your thoughts, instead of avoiding them: try to find meaning, learning and utility to bad experiences. Try to construct a positive narratives with your intrusive thoughts. If you still dont know how to handle them you may try talking with a friend about them (or about anything actually), or you could focus your attention to your breath (learn about breathing techniques) or focus your attention to your surroundings if you are too immerse in your thoughts or if they are too stressful. Cheers!
