Hello friends!

Anxiety is a tough invisible illness to live with. I mostly say this because having an invisible illness just by itself is difficult. And when it has to do with your mind, it can be scary... paralyzing, make you feel conflicted and alone. These are only some of the few feelings that anxiety can bring.

In this world that we live in now, not many people pay attention to mental health. Not enough people are educated on the importance of mental health, which is terribly saddening because anxiety is a real thing. I think sharing our personal experiences with others is good. It is good because it can make people feel less alone. It can educate. And most importantly, it can spread awareness and the realness of this invisible illness.

Now, sharing personal experiences can be hard, and even cause more anxiety for you. But I can assure you that this is a judgement-free zone. There will be no negativity, shaming, or judgement of any kind. I kindly encourage everyone who sees this post to at least reply with something. Now, with that being said, you do not have to, I know that this can be a big step in someone's journey, and know that if you aren't ready to share your experience, then that is completely okay!

Please keep in mind to refrain from sharing any potentially triggering details in your experience. If you are in need of some more personal support from a listener, please feel free to reach out to me, or another lovely listener on here. Everyone deserves a person who will support them and who they can confide in. Thank you!

Thank you for letting me share I appreciate it!

I had just turned a teen when anxiety hit me, around the time school started, at first it was fine but then during math class I started to get anxiety attacks and it happened over, and over, and over again and I've been dealing with that ever since. I also was/am not able to express myself (I wanted/want to be Emo) and I started to feel black and numb sometimes (so that's how depression started) I feel very insecure and have many very serious suicidal thoughts however dispite all this nothing will ever change and I will be trapped in the void, stuck in this endless cycle of pain!

I really think I began to acknowledge my anxiety issues just a little over a year ago. But really, I've been struggling with anxiety my whole life. I just really never thought about it because it would come and go. My first experience with anxiety was as a teenager. I was having panic attacks. I don't know why. I know my mom took me to the doctor and I got a prescription for an anti-anxiety med.

From that time, as best as I can remember, I did okay. I had moments of stress, but I don't recall anything bad and I wasn't taking any meds after that first prescription.

Now, years and years later, I can look back on moments where I was having severe panic attacks. I just didn't know it - no one really talked openly about those and having anxiety. Even up to about a decade ago I can recall having a discussion with my doctor at the time about feeling stressed and what I could do about it.

The past couple of years my anxiety has really "flourished" LOL. That's a sad way to say it, but it's true. I am fully aware of it now, and it is almost always a part of my daily life. I am triggered by my relationships with others mainly, but also how other people are feeling/reacting/acting.

I have suffered with anxiety for many years but always brushed it off. But suddenly in the past month it's hit me like a ton of bricks. I have been put back on my meds but I couldn't feel any worse. I have no motivation what so ever. Not sure if it's side affects from the meds.

I have struggled with anxiety for my whole life. There are times when it is better and times when it is worse. Right now is defiantly one one of those times that it more there.

I find that anxiety is like a game where you alone are in the dark about the rules. Everyone else (seems) to know what they’re doing so you have to play along to save yourself the embarrassment. Eventually you can’t bs your way through every aspect of the game and are exposed. Thus, the embarrassment and almost like a ‘everyone thinks you are stupid’ feeling.

I cannot seem to ask for a rule book. My anxiety is basically caused by the unknowns of expectations set by others but I’m not told about.
