Weekend Panic Attacks
I keep having Sunday panic attacks about various things & then I spend half my weekend obsessing about something that makes no sense or an issue with my house that's ongoing & never caused a problem but suddenly I'm sure it's going to make me sick or cause something horrible to happen & I can't think about anything but that for DAYS. It's not every weekend but it seems to happen disproportionately on weekends & I have no idea why. More time to think maybe? I woke up & freaked out at 5:30 this morning & I've been trying to calm down ever since. I'll go into work tomorrow exhausted. 😞 Also can we all agree that Reddit threads should not be looked at when anxious? Dr. Google is the worst....

I appreciate how observant you are of your anxietys patterns, and the way you try to understand what causes it to come up. It must become overwhelming when you cant enjoy your time away from work without getting caught up in your head, I know how that goes. But to suspect its the time you have on your hands because you are away from work.. its like a catch 22.
Lets see if you were to test this out, what do you enjoy that you could spend your time doing on the weekends?

Yes, we all need to stay away from Dr. Google when we're not feeling well. As for anxiety on the weekends, I think in general, the more time we have to think, the more time we give ourselves over to worry.
During this week, rather than worry about next weekend and if you're going to have anxiety issues, instead make some plans. Do you have any last minute shopping you need to get done? Maybe find a new recipe to cook - something more complicated than you normally would do. Schedule time to watch a movie, or play a game, or, weather permitting, take a nice walk, or even a short car trip somewhere.
My panic attacks have been on going for 3 months now. Between Listeners on here, online group therapy meetings, medication, and the love and support of my husband, I'm panic free 3 days now. It's the small steps that are helping me most. Trying to live in the moment, I'm a worrier by nature, this does come natural. I take 5 minutes each morning just to play with my cat. I give myself one goal a day and accomplish it. I also read on here what others are going through and remind them whether this is a temporary part of your life or chronic, as mine is, you are not alone! You aren't. You will find a path that works for you.
