idk if there’s a group specifically for OCD bc i’m new here but i developed a new theme of OCD in the past week which is that im fearful of not being the gender identity ivealways been and have never questioned or been unsatisfied without at all my entire life (i’m a cishet female) and it’s just making me have anxiety attacks throughout the whole day and i also feel a lot of dread and depression some times so yeah i’ve dealt with OCD once before so i know how it works but this is the worst it’s ever been

@lilllyzz Just to direct you to an area on the site, there's an OCD section within Support Plus (not too intuitive to check over there) - https://www.7cups.com/forum/SupportPlus_205/ObsessiveCompulsiveDisorderSupport_1097/

Have you had therapy for OCD before? I know it's a fairly common therapy to practice not feeling into a thought, for example, not going and checking that a door is locked despite the urge to. I don't really have any experience though and wouldn't even know what that would look like in practice for your 'theme'. Are you aware of what behaviours are likely to make that worse?

@lilllyzz

hi lilly! im sorry this is happening to you. it sounds very challenging and and OCD getting worse can be very hard to deal with! we don't have a community for OCD specifically, but we do have an lgbtq+ community and depression community (click the blue text to go there smiley) if you're interested. the lgbtq+ community has a section on gender identity if you want support there! there are also some lqbtq+ discussions that go on throughout the week. i can let you know what times those happen if you're interested!

we have a lot of great resources for anxiety and panic attacks as well. here are a couple:

https://www.7cups.com/panic-attacks-help-online and

https://www.7cups.com/qa-panic-attacks-13/how-do-you-deal-with-a-panic-attack-5366

some tips for anxiety attacks that have worked for me in the past have been:

- remember that it’ll pass

- take deep breaths (close eyes and count to 10)

- find a peaceful spot

- focus on an object

- 54321 method

look at 5 separate objects

listen for 4 distinct sounds

touch 3 objects

identify 2 smells

name 1 thing you can taste

- walk or do light exercise

- do muscle relaxation techniques

tense up and relax various muscles one by one

hold the tension for 5 seconds

say “relax” as you release the muscle

let the muscle relax for 10 seconds before moving on to the next

i know it's so hard right now, but it does get better. i hope you're able to figure everything out! the entire 7 cups community is here for you and we're happy you've joined us heart
