You Might Be an Aspie if...

...you've had at least one obsessive interest, if not more, over the years (mine would include drawing, writing, animals, developmental disorders, and psychology).

Your turn! <3

Note - this is a fun activity and isn't intended to imply diagnostic traits

(Me with Finding Nemo when I was younger... I would even watch it in French and Spanish! And I don't speak those languages...)

Yes, Aspie is a cute nickname for people with Aspergers. Aspergers is high-functioning autism, and it's the form of autism I have. :)

oh ok what does that mean high functioning autism

@theboymoana

Autism is on a spectrum. It goes from lower-functioning, which can be almost zero social skills/awareness and sometimes non-verbal (but again, everything is a spectrum, so no one fits perfectly into categories!), to more social skills and such. I can more easily pass for an NT because I've worked on myself for the 10+ years I've been aware of my autism.

Yeah, diagnoses are really confusing and weird sometimes.

NT means neurotypical. It just means "people who don't have autism" lol :P

@jesusredeemedme2425

Sure! 😁

Some fun facts are:

1. Fire color depends on the amount of oxygen present

2. Fire can only exist in Earth

3. Fire is self perpetuating (which means it's able to fuel itself endlessly)

How is it endless if it depends on having something to devour? It goes out when it runs out of wood or whatever lol

Definitely had more than one! Just to keep it short and simple, one of my primary obsessions would have to be musicals. I have almost every song in The Greatest Showman memorized from start to finish, and can name many differences between the book and movie of Phantom of The Opera. I've always loved how multiple people can sing and dance ever since seeing older musicals like Singing In The Rain, (original) Mary Poppins, The Court Jester, and White Christmas. They're so amazing and I'll never grow tired of them.💕

This is misleading, sorry. It would be wiser for everyone tempted to self-diagnose to use MUCH more caution with medicalising any and every behavior (or interest) they have which they heard 'somewhere' is a sign of 'X' condition... This will surely trigger many of you here, which is not my intent at all. The issue exemplified by this post is too common these days to not be spoken about with rationality.

It's a post meant more as a joke <3 It says you might be an Aspie if you do these things. It's just teasing about the interesting things we do :) Nothing meant as a self-diagnosis or anything <3

I am obsessed with athletes.  Part of my level 1 Autism profile is that I am deficient in physical ability or hand-eye coordination.  I am terrible at doing sports.  I am amazed at how athletes, male or female, can do amazing things that require, strength, focus, agility, and natural athletic abilities to do things like gymnastics, cheerleading, playing basketball, dancing, etc.  These abilities are foreign to me.

Same. I have zero gifts at most things to do with physical coordination.
