Fruit Analogies - writing job applications 🍉
by JasGab200519970

...See more 🍇🍉❤️❤️❤️🍉❤️🍓❤️❤️🍉❤️❤️❤️🍇 There are plenty of fruits you can pick out of a tree. Mango, pomegranate, apple, lemon, cherry, grapes, avocado. The list is endless. Let’s think about job applications and relate them to fruit analogies. Mango - This reflects the juice in what you write. Is your written work have a lot of flesh in it? Does it hit th senses and tailor to diversity? Pomegranate - This is a compact fruit. Do you like lining things up in structure? One important point after the other? Apple - An apple has its core. Do all of your points reflect back to your central argument? If you say you are innovative does this hone into problem-solving skills? Lemon: Is there a zest to what to write? Do you write with enthusiasm? Can the reader notice your personality or is there a disconnect?  Cherry- Cherry is a two in one. When two points are expressed together does the mind go “Boom, cherry bomb!?” For example , if I say I have good team working skills and this goes hand in hand with empathy is that point made  clear. General example - I advocated for a team member when she felt isolated in a group dynamic. I used a person-centred approach validating her feelings and asking her how she sees herself. In practice I noticed she learnt to stand up for herself better highlighting I can encourage others to advocate for themselves.  Grapes - Grapes they can come in many shapes and sizes. They all want to handstand at the same time. Good communication skills for example come in many different ways and one cannot exist without the other. Good communication skills cannnot exist worth our good time-management, organisation, empathy, responsibility, openess, trust, interpersonal skills, clarity, good social skills. Communication at its best is when the goals are clear and you question your motivation and intention behind asking. Getting feedback from others too can be important - you may choose someone more senior to you, or someone who will be not biased towards you and want you to grow.  Avocado - This fruit is hard on the outside and soft in the inside. Everyone has had their “ouch” moments in life. What is yours? Someone has said something hurtful to you - you can either hit back or respond with sensitivity. Here you can speak about the time you failed at something but frame it positively. Maybe  you disagreed with a team member and now you can say what your reflections are - how did that relationship improve? What are yo ur reflections? Did you change your approach to them?  What do you choose and why? Pick a maximum of four fruits. 🍇🍉❤️❤️❤️🍉❤️🍓❤️❤️🍉❤️❤️❤️🍇

...See more Good afternoon all, I’ve personally enjoyed my time reading through Andrew Eriksons book named Surrounded by Setbacks. What particularly was interesting to me was the DISC model and how it was broken down in simpler terms to understand approaches to various situations in terms of colour.  This resource shares about motivations, intentions, aims and goals coupled with the responses and working styles of individuals. It’s about working to each individuals strengths which I love. We can all fall under each of these categories from time to time depending on the context and situation.  So what’s the point in this resource?  It’s to show that individuals don’t need to be exactly the same to work well together. You can use this resource to approach interviews, analyse interviewees. You can ask yourself why was I more practical in this context vs this context. ❤️💛🤍💚❤️💛🤍💚❤️

Holiday Preparation

...See more Happy November.  Here in the US, this is the time we start to prepare for our Thanksgiving and thinking about Christmas through out the world.  A time to spend with family and friends, close out the current year and get ready for new adventures in the upcoming year.  Sometimes, having to work during this time of year makes it hard on a lot of us.  Having to work on Holidays isn't fun for anyone.  Business models vary depending on the type of job and workplace environment. Some places are very family friendly while others not so much.  With the Holidays coming up, some work places slow down to give their employees time to spend with family.  Others, like retail, amp up and require extra staff and hours, making the time more stressful for its staff.  Lets share ideas and ways to make this holiday season as stress free as possible in the workplace. What does your place of employment do to prepare for the Holidays, if anything? Does this time of year cause you more stress at work?  What ideas or tips can you share with us regarding working during this season, that help keep you happy and stress free? @CyclingThroughLife @ImpudentIncognito @KristenHR @Sunisshiningandsoareyou @tommy @trueconfidant123 @warmheartedCamp3360
