"Curiosity is the wick in the candle of learning." — William Arthur Ward

Think of your brain as a muscle: the more you use it, the stronger and more flexible it becomes. Learning something new is the ultimate mental workout. It keeps your mind sharp and actually builds new neural pathways, paving the way for fresh ideas and perspectives. The benefits of actively learning one new thing each day go on and on. And with the vastness of the internet at our fingertips, there's really no excuse not to!

Recently, I've been challenging myself to find new information every day so that by the time I go to bed, I can say I learned something. I usually share this tidbit with my partner, both to solidify the knowledge in my head and to give them something new!

And I thought it would be a great idea to expand the knowledge pool and challenge our community:

Every day, learn something new and share it here in this thread. It doesn't have to be a groundbreaking scientific discovery, merely a factoid, a wellness tip, a song, life lesson, or a revelation about yourself!

Today I learned the word dysania: a chronic, overwhelming difficulty in getting out of bed. I also learned clinomania, which is an obsessive desire to stay in bed.

learned that at times  it better to not voice to a person that offended  your beliefs knowing that will cause  more harm then good

we have a home aid that uses God name in like a swear word this bothers us a lot but we know if we say that she be like it my life and i talk like i want too.

so we to keep the peace just learned not to say this bothers us due to we know how she will reacted

Today I learned about "Phone pinky" is a term for the common indentation, callus, or even pain that occurs in the pinky finger from using it to support a phone for extended periods. This happens because the phone's weight rests on the bent pinky, creating constant pressure that can strain soft tissues, compress nerves, and lead to temporary or long-term issues like a bent appearance, numbness, or joint pain. Prevention involves using two hands, taking breaks, and using phone stands or holders.

we learned today that going in fear mode when things seem to be going negative  ways only make them much worst we thought seeing HUD sent a inspection letter only days after Manger  had one in apartment park we live in she was trying to get them to say apartment was like us having to much stuff even after she said it was lot better

in the end when he came today guy from HUD it was that they moved our inspection way up as would be normally in April  of 2026 he stated it to try to get the ones in apartment park we live in on same day as others who have HUD vouchers  here so  be less trips for him

so yes we freaked out due to fear but it was unneeded  as was not really a negative reason in the end at all we passed both inspections'  in the end too

Today I realized my loneliness isn’t a need for someone beside me, it’s a reminder to stand by myself.

One new thing I learned is: People have written about this, even in chapters! I dove into a re-reading of Les Misérables by Victor Hugo. So many subtle interpretations and insights are contained within.

Lately, when it’s “my” book, I underline pieces that resonate.

It was so meaningful to me when I opened a book that perhaps someone I love read, and their annotations would be there, in their hand.

So now, I’ve started doing the same.

I guess if it’s a borrowed book from the library, the librarians wouldn’t look kindly on this. Smile. 😊

Today I learned about Apennine brown bears. They are a small population of brown bears found in central Italy.

According to researchers, this population is more docile and smaller in size than the typical brown bear!🐻
