You can't save everyone. You can't save those who suffer in silence and fight an invisible battle, you can't save those who refuse help and don't want to be saved. You can't save those that have gone too far on the path of self -destruction and have given up on themselves. And above all, you can't save ANYONE if you haven't saved yourself first. It is like an oxygen mask on an airplane, first you need to put on one yourself and then you are able to help others.
you can't save everyone... But you can offer help if the person is suffering in silence, you can offer compassion if someone refuses help, and you can be a flicker of hope for those who don't see the light anymore.
At least try. Start today
@mybu
Beautifully written ❤️
@chrysanthemum97
thank you for the praise, Chrysanthemum🌹
@mybu
WOW mybu.
You really goes the extra mile as the Bible is talking about.
I think I must learn that......
@Helgafy
thank you , I am so touched that you liked it
@mybu
I really like the oxygen mask comparison. You definitely have to be able to "save yourself" first
@Toreanthank you. the trick is actually doing it. the fallacy here is that knowing isn't doing.
@mybu beautiful!
@Clarisse29thank you, you are too kind ☺️😌
@Clarisse29 i want to be tagged for more prompts thanks!
(Inspired by my experiences I'm going through a hard time right now)
"You can't save everyone, sweetheart" he said, taking my hands in his. "It'll be okay, they're not gone, they've just moved on, that's how the world works. I'm sure they would've stayed with you if they had the choice." But he doesn't understand.
"They ARE gone!" I cried, wishing I would wake up from this nightmare of a situation. "All my friends, they're gone, I'm never gonna see them or talk to them ever again! They saved ME. And if I can't save everyone, why can't I just save them?" I yanked my hands back and buried my face in them.
"But honey, what would you save them from? They're going out into the real world, they'll become adults, with a family and a job and everything." he asked. He just doesn't get it.
"Exactly that. The real world. Taxes and hate and heartbreak and failure and responsibility and losing themselves and moving on. High school is hell but it's easier here. And they saved me," I choked out, "from myself. They saved my life and they don't even know it. There's so much I need to tell them, let them know that I wouldn't have gotten through this first year of high school had they not been helping me. But now I have to do three more without them."
"I don't understand, you knew them for 6 months sweetie. People are gonna come and go and you're gonna have to get used to that." he said, with a confused look on his face.
"You don't get it!" I yelled, storming out of the room so he couldn't see the tears welling up in my eyes. As I walked through the doorway I stopped, not turning around but talking with poison lacing my voice. "But I guess I can't save everyone, right?"
@AnnaJ718
I love this.
This reminds me so much of something I'm going through right now, it's a little crazy. This was really well written! <3
@CupoSad076
I'm so sorry you're going through this too, I know how bad it hurts. I wrote this about a group of seniors I met halfway through the school year and they made me feel like I had a family. They don't know how much they mean to me, or how they saved my life.
@AnnaJ718
I feel this pretty hard. Estranged friendships, whether due to "growing apart" or any personal or outside circumstances... It's a shame, and it's a hard one to not keep feeling. Taking your writing at face value, your heart is in the right place, and I hope you're able to reconnect with them and keep the ones that you need in your life.
@Torean
Thank you very much <3 I don't think I'm ever gonna see them again. They made me the happiest I've ever been, but when they left, I experienced the most pain that I think I ever have in my life. Worse than funerals, breakups, anything.
[time for my favorite part of the week woot]
I wear a warning on my chest
I walk ten feet behind
I don't sleep for there is no rest
For those who've lost their mind
Can no one read? Can no one see?
I'll simply bring you pain
But they're too kind, too good for me
So they stepped into the rain
Their blood on my hands, I told them to leave--
Why don't they ever listen?
I watched them fly into the sun...
I guess you can't save everyone.
@CupoSad076
Major props, this is one of the coolest poems I've read.
@CupoSad076 Awesome poem!
@CupoSad076
Hi - noone is too kind or too good for you - you're amazing. Please read Zeph.3.17 in the Bible and se what God says about you.
@Clarisse29
You can't save everyone
There's a sickly amount of truth to that
But what if you can't save the one that matters?
No... I can't let that consume me...
Not now, when it matters most...
2 Cornered animals...
Corner one another...
You’d better either put it down,
Or rend me asunder.
As much as I’d rather close my eyes,
I know that I can't so much as blink.
As much as I’d rather walk away,
I promise I won't leave.
You think you’re the one who’s afraid?
You’ve already checked out.
I’ll suffer this, I’ll suffer you,
Just to relieve your doubt.
I never wanted you to feel this way…
You don't have to be so alone.
I don't want to feel without you,
Please.... Come home.
@Torean Wow - this is good!
@mytwistedsoul
Thank you ^_^
@Torean another awesome piece torean! i always look forward to reading your stuff! keep up the good work!
@Clarisse29
Thank you! ^_^
You can't save everyone.
This sentence reminds me that I can't change the way another person thinks, feels, or behaves. They have to make that change themselves. If there is something they do or say that adversely affects me, I have to avoid them. I can't change them to suit me. If there is something about them that is affecting themself negatively, I might make a suggestion or two about it, but, again, I can't change them.
They have to save themselves. They can get help - support, therapy, etc., but they still have to be willing to put forth the effort.
@Clarisse29
I hope to be able to save everyone.
One day, as a doctor, with knowledge and care.
But I know I can't.
Apart from death, that no human can overrule,
there will always be one person who needed me,
and there's nothing I can do for her.
Younger me, I'm sorry
I can't heal your wounds, ease your pain.
I wasn't able to protect you from scary nights and days
From people who used you and left you broken.
I wish I could listen to you talk for hours,
and instead of a "shut up", give you a smile.
I wish I could kiss you goodnight, like Mom didn't,
so that you wouldn't feel undeserving
of kindness, or love.
I can't save you now, it's too late
But I do hope you know,
As much work you need, you always try your best
So I am convinced, one day
Not really because you are a doctor,
but just here, on this Earth,
you will save yourself.
@TryingTBH2021 so beautiful! moved me to my core!
@Clarisse29,
Thank you! ☺️
You can't save everyone
What they reap they shall sow
You can't be in the way of their karma
You can't anymore
Take a step back
Watch from a distance
Be there when they fall
But you can't do it all
@Clarisse29 I have a question, are you aloud to use pre existing characters for your story ?
@Divinemove
hi! can you please elaborate? do you mean people from real life like actors or celebrities or pre-existing fictional characters?
@Clarisse29
Reality Check
When if feels like,
Life is going downhill,
The pure soul,
Seeks to protect,
Those most close to them.
Then reality,
Comes sweeping in,
Like a steed at full pace.
It is the reminder,
That one cannot save everyone,
No matter the sacrifice,
No matter the circumstance.
But that does not mean,
You give up,
On providing that shoulder,
That love,
To those who need it most.
