Do you dare?!
Let's have the courage to speak about our good qualities. Start with me right now.🍓
Tell me three of your good qualities ✨️
Me:
1️⃣ I have a good understanding of other people's emotions
2️⃣ I'm a talented person
3️⃣ I have an open and analytical mind
1) i'm good at annoying people
2) i'm good at following orders
3) i'm patient
@Enolakh
1- when someone gets interrupted during a conversation, i keep paying my attention to them so they don't feel unheard. 2- if i hang out in groups, i try to make everyone feel included so nobody is left out. 3- if someone shares a story they have shared for a 100 times but they feel happy sharing it, i will pretend i've never heard it and will give the same reactions i did the first time.
@adaptiveMelody7976 it seems like you are such a kind person and you care about how others feel . thanks for sharing 🥹❤️✨️
This post unsettles me and makes me be mean for some reason. I'm trying not to be mean, I'm trying to be calm and relate to people since afterall, i'm here on this app because i have my own issues that i want to solve, not to spread hate... but this post for some reason touches a sensitive nerve whenever i read it so... i guess I'll just try to open up here, hoping that it'll help me somehow...
So, 3 qualities. Firstly, in my opinion, someone's qualities are either objective, so... you're an artist capable to put on canvas your ideas well enough for people to understand your inner image of things or emotions (I'm think about those that can draw realistic images), or... maybe you're a good trader, so that kind of person that even if you get to rock bottom you'll be able to make a fortune by selling rocks or something...
HOWEVER, you can't be a good singer unless there's people to apreciate you for your voice, you can't be a good cook unless there's people to apreciate your cooking, and so on.
So there are things that you can appreciate about yourself and aren't really subjective enough so that when you say "i'm a good ***" you could actually just be self entitled. Because it doesn't take an expert to see if you're good at drawing or not. But you have to be subjectively apreciated by your community you're from to call yourself a "good cook" for example.
Now, coming back to the post. Why does this post unsettles me? Because the autor said "i understand well people's emotions", "i'm talented", "i'm open minded and analytical".
So... in my opinion, i consider myself as being those three things either. HOWEVER, despite me considering myself to be a very empathetic person, i'm friendless and lonely all the time. I starve from human contact and communication and just to feel cared by someone that isn't my overprotective mom and want a reason in life. Despite thinking that i'm talented, i work as a call center, i have a lame job that requires no skills besides just speaking a script that i could fail to follow too and no one would care. And finally, i think I'm analitycal and open minded... but in my experience and from my perspective those aren't qualities, but just double edge swords that I don't know how to wield and just made me dig myself into a hole that I can't get out from. "Why?" i don't know... if i knew i'd probably wouldn't be here writing nonsense...
so... yeah... i'm sorry if anyone felt offended by what i just wrote here. I wasn't trying to be rude... but i always end up seeming rude... sorry 😢
@DryRain16 things you wrote reminded me a fight i have had with a friend a few months ago. She said i was condescending and rude, so i read what i wrote again and realised i wrote to her like i talk to myself in my head. I am trying to be easy on myself since then but it is difficult. I dont know maybe it was the education system making me like that but i need to see like some type of approvals to consider something good or succesfull. But cooking something and enjoying it should count too.( if you are not a chef of course) Making only ourselves happy should count too.
So you're saying that if i like what i cook, that automatically counts as something i'm good at despite me never having an actual external approval?
You see. I'm honestly more incline to deny that. But in doing so, i can see myself as issued, because someone who just feels good about itself for doing something good, even if they don't have all these proofs, is someone that's intimately mentally healthier, in comparison to someone like me. I feel like i'm good at nothing and this makes me feel unmotivated to do anything, since i'm convinced that i'm not good at nothing. In other words, the idea of being a a little bit self motivated by some self claimed talents that maybe aren't even real could maybe make those talents real through the motivation that comes within.
But this concept doesn't really apply to me.
And another thing, personally I've always feel unappreciated, not cared off, lonely. These things did make me eventually considered talent something that people cherish you for. So this is basically why the post triggered me (probably), because i'm not the "all positive" type of guy...
@DryRain16 I understand how you think about talent and being good at. Do you think that the requirement of assessment of someone other than the self applies to other attributes? For example, can i be lazy even if nobody commented on it? Do our all qualities make only sense in case of socialty because all qualities are socially constructed? If yes, can changing our social circle change us even if we did not do anything about ourselves? Like if i move to a place nobody can swim and people think of me as an excellent swimmer would it make me a talented swimmer?
I am not trying to argue with you. I sincerely thought moving to somewhere less competitive in the past. But i am not sure it would make me fell less worthless. As my inner voice (sounds like a mix of most disappointed moments of my parents, teachers anf friends) comes with me everywhere, i do not think i can see myself accomplished even if i move somewhere else.
I am open minded. I don’t just see one side of a persons side but I see all sides of the people involved in a situation.
I’m bet giving, caring and helpful.
I’m sensitive to other people’s pain and do my best to make a difference.
@Enolakh
1 I suffer but still hope things can get better if I with stand it long enough, despite bleak outlook
2 I love caring for others, I hate seeing ppl in pain
3 I'm not talented at anything but I love trying to defy my learning disability and learn new things or skills.
