Festival bread

Festival bread is a type of deep-fried bread, typical of Jamaican cuisine, Despite its slightly sweet taste, it is served as a side dish with escovitch fish, seafood or jerk chicken,as well as a breakfast item and street food.

 jerk chicken 🍗 I’m not typically a spicy food person. But it is amazing. They put a dry rub on it that is phenomenal

 And

Fried plantains for dessert 🍨 they remind me of a big banana and sweeter

I’ve had a few opportunities to have Caribbean food. It’s all been delightful !!!

I feel like @Torean has mentioned jerk chicken before. Is it awesome, yall?? <3 What’s in the dry rub?

Are the plantains dipped in anything?

@jesusredeemedme2425

 it’s a sweet spicy.

  • The Marinade: The foundation of jerk is a wet paste (or dry rub) containing Scotch bonnet peppers (intense heat) and allspice berries(known as pimento in Jamaica, offering a warm, clove-like aroma).

The fried plantains I had didn’t have a batter. It was comparable to apple chips. Crunchy and sweet with powdered sugar and cinnamon.

@peachThinker662 Yesssss! Love both of these. 😋 Need to put some more color on those plantains for my liking though. 🙃
