@jesusredeemedme2425

Borscht is officially recognized as the national dish of Ukraine, where it is a cornerstone of cultural identity, hospitality, and ritual. This hearty beet-based soup, often featuring meat (beef/pork) and varied vegetables, was inscribed on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list in 2022 due to its deep-rooted cultural significance.

I love pyrohy, perishke and kovbasa.

Borscht is really good, but a Ukrainian restaurant near me makes a cabbage soup which surprised me how delicious it is. I need to figure out what's in it!

@jesusredeemedme2425 honestly..my post is a very vulnerable post idk if im ready to open up abt my culture so much has happened , i think younger me would be eager to share abt it but rn ive got so much goin on atm that i cant rlly post i just feel immense grief n insecurity due to past experiences w/ ppl when the yk what happened, ik this is prob a happy, educational, fun post but its rlly hard, i might delete my posts on this forum, just know theres yummy food out there 😅 i do feel alone in my grief tho, that too..its hard for me again to share as i have faced lots of ppl be mean even friends in the time of year that i desperatly needed support, so i think ill prob hold back for now, be sure to tag other ukrainian members or listeners if theyre capable of speakin abt it !

@jesusredeemedme2425  In New Orleans we have a stew(?) or is it a soup? I don't know not even my mom knows. But it's called gumbo and it's a slightly spicy dish. The kind we make every thanksgiving is sea food gumbo, which contains crab, shrimp, garlic, oysters, bell peppers, sausage, and a ton of other stuff!

@DarkXWolf17KAI I'm confused was this the wrong thread (no problem if so!) Or is there a connection between gumbo and Ukrainian food?

I have always thought of it as American/Creole.

@AffyAvo "Tell us about the food from your culture/homeland/etc!" I mean- they did say from your culture so I think my culture counts 😅

@DarkXWolf17KAI OH, there's a thread for most of the countries now! I think Kiara just copied and pasted the same OP but changed the titles.

That makes sense! There's no Creole one that I know of so happy to hear of a different culture's soup!
