I've been feeling incredibly lonely for the past few years

I'm feeling very alone right now. The only person I can trust in life doesn't want to talk to me right now and it adds to the loneliness. I made a small mistake that *** them off, that's all I can say. I don't have anyone I can reach out to. No friends to reach out to just for a chat, and I don't talk to my family about this stuff, and not planning to. I just don't know what to do right now. Everytime I'm having my worst days, there is no one to reach out to, I have no safe space or trustworthy friends to vent to. This has led me to depression over the years. I'm a very quiet and shy person so making friends has been incredibly hard especially in this society where it looks like everyone I see doesn't have this same problem at all. Sometimes I feel like I was cursed with this type of personality. Every other person I know in life I shut them all out without even knowing it, I completely isolated myself and it really sucks. I can't afford therapy right now so it's hard to find someone immediate to talk to for suppport. On a day to day basis I can usually keep these feelings at bay (despite knowing deep down I have no one) but when I'm met with a difficult situation or a retrospective moment all by myself, all my mental health issues resurface and it can get very dark in my thoughts.

@Lyanna7890

Hi Lyanna, you are welcome on here 😊

I hope you will feel this like your safe friendly space when you need to share.

Unfortunately it's not easy to find the right people with whom to feel accepted, because nobody is perfect so to practice self acceptance could help you see things from a different perspective, also when they don't go as wished.

Sending you good vibes 💙

hi hi, please don’t think you’re cursed with this personality because I do uds what you’re going through right now. I hope eventually you will find someone to talk to but meanwhile, hang in there. Good things come to ppl who wait.

I'm also very quiet and shy around new people have found a church community and life recovery group that everyone is super nice and supportive. My advice is to find a small church and just show up you don't have to say anything or do anything special simple just show up you will more then likely be amazed at the people who will come up and hug you and talk to you there you can find some truly good hearted people. Also maybe try something to keep you busy like reading books to help learn about yourself or volunteer at an animal shelter if you like animals who knows maybe you can find some like minded individuals. And remember you may not know them now but there ARE people out there that care about you and would be more then willing to talk to you love you and support you times may be hard now but the sun always shines after the rain keep pushing forward and try to look for any positive in life even the smallest things I wish the best of luck to ya

Army here 💜

I'm in a very similar situation, and I'm so sorry you feel this way. No one should ever feel lonely. I hope you know that you're never alone. There are a lot of people that understand exactly how you feel, including me. I'm just another member, but if I can lend a helping hand, or just some emotional support, please let me know.

I feel almost identically to you. I've inadvertently pushed most of the people I once had in my life away and feel almost entirely isolated. I try to make friends and put myself out there in various social circles but something about my personality doesn't invite conversation from others. It's like I defensively shut myself off from others in an attempt to protect myself from vulnerability but I'm so doing have left myself feeling miserably lonely.

I wonder how others are able to make friends and socialise so easily? There's clearly a secret to which some of us aren't privy. Everything feels much harder when you realise you're living your life alone and not building anything with other people, instead traveling through alone and feeling undesirable. It's a painful state to live in. With no one walking by your side it's impossible not to wonder what the point of going on even is. I guess a problem shared is a problem halved though.
