More Unemployment Guilt
Still stressing about employment.
Sister started her first day on the job today.
Everything is moving along for everybody else but me.
Nothing is really helping distract my thoughts anymore.
Try to play a game? I feel guilty and should be working.
Try to watch a movie? I feel guilty and should be working.
Try to listen to music? I feel guilty and should be working.
Try to clean my room? I'm still not being productive enough because it's not a job and I feel guilty.
It's wearing me down.
The process of repeatedly inputting the same information over and over again into job applications.
Taking these 20 minutes long "tests" with each application only to get nothing back.
I just feel like more and more like a worthless loser and I can't pull myself out of thinking that way about myself.
I’m sorry you’re going through that. I know this doesn’t magically solve your problems and probably doesn’t mean much coming from a total stranger, but I don’t think you sound like a loser. You’re someone with their back against the wall who keeps fighting for things to be better. And that sounds like a winner to me. The market is so tough right now. You can only do what you can do - a lot of the job hunt is beyond anyone’s control. Please don’t beat yourself up 🫂
Amen

I can feel overwhelming when it seems like others are doing and we are not.
Finding a job can be very difficult that is different for many by where you are and what type of work you are seeking. i think many can relate going through all the motions of applying and whatever they require tests or even interviews, then we hear nothing back etc. I used to take personally but anymore I see there are many people applying and just because someone else was chosen it does NOT reflect on me.
I am on my 3rd month of unemployment. Yes....it gets tiring turning in applications only to be ghosted or to go through interviews without success.
There is a certain sense of shame having to answer that you are currently unemployment. A question that is then followed by a endless trail of questions not about your proficiency for the role at hand but rather of why you are without employment.
I was just told Friday by a company that I did not fit a role solely on the decision of an exco who has never met me. Went through 3 separate interviews which were preceded by a meeting with their MD. Underwent a testing phase which I passed. My final interview would have been with their FD...a meeting that never happened because the guy's flight was delayed on the day of the interview. To my surprise...a call to say they would not be proceeding that day after.
Some people simple do not give a damn about the mental strain that unemployment carries. I would understand being let down after the meeting but to be told you are not good enough simply at the whim of an individual is hard.
I’m so sorry
Control what's in your power. All the rest leave up to your higher power of personal choice. What everyone else is doing has absolutely 0.0 sum anything to do with what your plans are. Realize this and you have an advantage over everyone else. Do what you need to do for you. Your life isn't a race.
