I have been living with depression for 6 years now. Untreated PTSD diagnosis and endless panic attacks and flashbacks of the nights I never want to remember. Ive been wanting to look into getting into actual therapy but I cant afford it. I just got married (happiest part of my life) and my husband just had to buy a new car this week as his 2001 truck completely died for good.
I opened up to a coworker about my past/present situation and he was very supportive and helpful in the beginning. Now, if I bring it up he will give me thoughless answers or just read my messages and not respond. I feel like Im bothering him with my reoccuring problems so I stopped communicating with him altogether. I have no one to talk to anymore and Im strugging because I feel like Im drowning

Been two years since my first major depressive episode. A lot more functional now, can work and go out with friends etc. Still sort of struggling, engaging in self harm, etc. I found an old diary from 6 years ago and I don't remember the last time I could say things I did then, about being hopeful and loving people :/

I've lived with depression for four or five years now, since I was 8 or 9.

I would be fine but it all started when my grandfather passed away in a car crash while driving to the airport to come visit. It took over a year to recover, but by the time I was in fourth grade I wasn't any better.

Then I was caught in an extremely toxic friendship (pretty sure she was a sociopath or something) and I kept getting worse in the three years I was stuck there. I told her and a few others about my depression and she turned around and used it to hurt me. I'm still recovering from that today even though she's at a different school now.

Then the one person I thought was my true best friend, who was like a sister to be, turned around and said we were never friends, let alone best friends, and we never would be. I confided all my secrets in her and she was all I had for so long.

I'm bi and I found my dad thinks lgbtq people should go to h*ll.

All summer I was a depressed suicidal mess. I even attempted suicide once.

But I'm finally recovering. I found acceptance among my friends, I think this girl I like likes me back, and here's the best part:

Over the summer, my emotional test scores were all in the upper 90s. Now, here's the results:

61% Depression

58% Anxiety

86% Stress

88% Sadness

For me that's a huge improvement... I think I'm actually recovering and I'll no longer say I have depression- I'll say I had :D

For everyone who is struggling with depression, trust me, you can and will get better, so don't you dare give up! ❤

I've been living with depression for 8 years now. That's almost half of my lifetime. I'm 18 now and I don't remember what it's like to live without it.
