How depression feels to me
The daylight hurts
The darkness hurts
Everything around burns
The feeling of a rock in my chest
Pounds me everyday untill I want it to end
If you could reach in and just take out the rock
Maybe it would go away
The rock is my burden , I am a burden
I don't want to bring others down
I want to talk but push them away
Untill I sit on my bed crying all day
Chores pile up, trash and laundry
The windows never open
I fear if they do I'll look down and jump
But I hold tight to the bed
Irritable and angry
Not what I wanted to feel
Numb to everything nothing ever feels real
Sharp objects are not my friends nor are belts or string
So many things I want to do but I can't move
While I stare at the wall and sigh
It physically hurts to get up and go shower
Then I sit in it letting the water flow down my back
I stay huddled in a ball hoping silently somthing will happen
Hopeless , alone, empty , anxious , but no emotion. Wanting it to end but not having guts to do it. Crying when you reach out to a friend then pull back because you don't want to burden them.
That is what depression feels like to me
This was really great I'm glad you shared this. If you ever need to talk I'm here and so are so many other listeners. I'm sorry that depression makes you feel this way. Keep being strong! @Strawnana

@Strawnana ... Hey :) I was in the discussion today when you gave us the link for this page. Thank you! Thank you for writing this poem. I think a lot of people will be able to relate to it. I can. Thankfully I am not "in" that deep any longer. I have felt many of the things you've written about. Keep writing, okay? :) .................... ~ Platy
I wish there was a way for more people to see this. I think it would help them to explain how they feel..
@Laura .... I'm not sure who are Listeners working in depression section of the forum. I do agree with @Strawnana for sure - that others could really benefit from reading this as well. ~ Platy
@Moj - you might know this as well, perhaps. :)
@Strawnana - putting words to your feelings is powerful. For it even helps you to communicate with yourself!
Para akong binibitay araw-araw
Thanks for sharing your experience, your heart and your soul with us...through these words.
Our willingness and ability to open up and share with others has such power...helps us not to feel alone, and know that there are others that experience similar things as well. Thank you for being willi to open yourself up like that, to give insight and support to others through what you've experienced and felt.
Platy asked for some of the people involved here...Some of the people involved in the depression parts of the forum to tag that I know or can think of are... @Celaeno @JoyIntoDarkness @politeCup86 @Nagisa @Kashie @Annie hope this helps.
Thanks for the tag @Moj! I remember that it came up in the last depression support discussion, too. @Strawnana, thank you for sharing with us how do you experience the depression. This disorder has many layers of depth and stages, and even if right now I'm mostly recovered and coping well, I still vividly remember the despair and numbness. Some of your images really strucked me, especially the ones about being unable to function properly and perform simple tasks, like showering.
It is a raw and honest post, one which can be relatable to many. Thank you again for writing it, lovely. Tagging some people who may be interested in reading it: @Nagisa @fearlessWriter7 @freshHug78 @BellaFreedom @ZizyTheTurtle
Best wishes!
@Strawnana
