I always feel lonely at school.
Recently at school I've been feeling very down, as I have only came to realise how lonely I truly am. My only friend left to go on holiday, so I have nobody to talk to for the rest of this school year. I would sit alone in class, with my head on a desk, listening to the laughing and chatter of all those kicking back around me, and nobody ever notices me , I'm judt a silhouette in a kingdom of seldomness. My form teacher noticed I would lie down a lot in class, but when she asked if I was okay, I faked being happy, I just knew people would be forced to talk to me if I said anything.
Often, my loneliness has caused me to have terrible thoughts about myself, because I have nobody to distract me from my mind.
I wish I could have friends but I can't even bring myself to speak, as my personal hell known as anxiety always tells me to shut up. How can I feel less lonely? I still have week of school left, and I'm not sure if I can last it out
@SakuraSkye It sounds like you are noticed and people care - for instance, your teacher asking if you were okay. Your best friend that you feel understands you isn't there, and you don't feel able to open up to the others in your class. If your anxiety puts trying to interact out of the question, I would second the idea of a good book or something to draw your attention away from the loneliness. I struggled with loneliness as well and felt like no one noticed me. The truth was, they did, but it was my thoughts that convinced me otherwise. I have anxiety and trouble opening up to others, too. Chances are that you are more noticed and cared about than you might think. People do not openly express these things much, but they can still feel it. It is safe for you to be comfortable in your own skin and just being you; you don't have to be a social butterfly. Lord knows I am not! :D Let me know if you ever need a listener and I hope you will feel better.
@SakuraSkye
Stepping out of your comfort zone.
Well, thats a no-brainer. But its easier said than done. Do something you wouldnt typically do. Instead of lying down in class, talk to the people next to you and just make a simple conversation from it. Yes, it can be awkward. Yes, it can be scary and Yes it can totally feel like you are embarrassing yourself. But by going out of your comfort zone, you are improving yourself. And in this particular case, making new friends.
Suggestions you can do:
Talk about homework with someone behind you.
Join a club you might be interested in.
Ask about recent school events.
Some topics you can talk about:
School
Hobbies
Boys/Girls
Gossips/Dramas
Interests/Passions
Your Day
What you doing on weekend
A tip that I do for myself is that I just say whatever feels right at the moment. Just ask loads of questions about the person you are talking to. I know that high schoolers love talking about themselves. People are generally too worried about themselves and what they should say than over what you are going to say.
Hi everyone. Thank you all for your kind comments. I finally realised that I should just accept my lonely fate, but I realised that I was okay with it, and I finally looked at the bright side of it; at least I can be productive with this free time. I don't feel that I could talk to any of my fellow students, so instead I have chosen to begin writing poetry (It's been a while since I have done so.) I found myself feeling slightly happier when I realised loneliness could be a good thing. :)
@SakuraSkye YEA and you're not alone, I'm pretty alone in school too ahaha so just know that there's another lonely girl in some part of the world as well :-) Sometimes it hurts seeing others being in a bunch but who knows if there may be internal conflicts and dramas among them? Stay positive and let's pass through this together!! :-D
I came here looking for someone to relate to only to see this was posted 7 years ago, I hope you’re doing alright despite the fact I don’t think you’re on this app anymore. It brings me joy seeing time has passed and what you went through wasn’t forever because you’re probably not at school anymore. I’m very proud of you, your past self for coming here and talking about your feelings. 7 years is a long time, and I hope things have gotten better for you by then to the point you’ve forgotten you were ever here writing this. I hope my road to happiness and peace opens soon, for im going through the same thing you were. All the love
