Recently, I've had my depression under control.. but stress and anxiety still affects my sleep at least once a week.. Where I'd usually wake up several times a night, or I have trouble falling asleep..

But back in the day, when my depression was severe, there had been many times where I wake up every night from nightmares.. And I had gone without sleep for 2.5 days.. Or an average of 10 hours of sleep per week.. During some times, I've had a nightmare, that repeated itself for an entire week.. Only the endings will be different.. Other times, when I wake up from a nightmare, I'd be in a panic, catching my breath and afraid to go back to sleep (afraid the nightmare will continue on), which it has!~

I've never really had serious problems falling asleep but when depression hits I just simply don't want to sleep. It might sound weird but even if I have to get up early in the morning, I still just don't feel like falling asleep. Instead my mind would rather lie there and focus on all the negative things it can pick from my life and all the insults that I throw at myself and make them bigger and bigger until I end up crying myself to sleep from exhaustion.

It's rough. Haven't had one of those nights for a while though smileyyes

Depression and sleeping is really connected i guess :l

On good days i sleep all the time - i dream a lot of weird stuff.

On bad days i don't really sleep - more like doze of without dreams just nothing and when i wake up i still feel the same just more empty.

Sleeping is both torment and peace.

When my depression is worse, I sleep more. I struggle to get out of bed in the mornings and at night I pass out as soon as I'm in bed. I've slept through my alarm before even. I actually developed a caffeine dependence in high school, but I broke it a year ago.

I'm doing better now, but sometimes I'm worse and sometimes I'm better.

I'm always tired, but can't sleep well at night because of this.

When it was really bad, on workdays Id be unable to fall asleep, and when I was able to fall asleep I would wake up every half an hour. And then the alarm freaked me out.

But on weekends I would oversleep and feel tired all day... Still happens sometimes.
