@Laura Um, hi there, my name is Emma VonWittkamp and I'm new. I highly doubt anyone in this group really cares about who I am, but here goes.. I am a young girl, only in high school.. For the most part, I get good grades and I am a part of a privileged family. And if you've read up to this point, I bet I know what you're thinking: "What the hell is wrong with her? She's not in poverty, she's not being physically abused, she's doing good in school, there's nothing to be upset about." But believe me, there is.

@KindOfHelpless hi there, I'm in a similar situation. Raised well with money and I'm achieving a lot of things in life, technically, but I don't seem to be any closer to not feeling like I am physically dying at least a handful of times throughout the day. Every good, healthy, tried and true methods I've experimented with only seem to make me feel and be worse in every way I see..

Hi, my name is fedora. I'm new here. 25 and have accomplished nothing. I sit at home all day going through the net seeing my acquaintances happy. I'm more of an introvert with little or no friends. My world seems to be at a standstill. I get tired of the littlest things. I'm even tired of writing. So I'll end by saying "hi" again.

@littleTiger3430 Hi! I'm very introverted too. I spend a lot of time online. Sometimes it's nice though because then we get to reach out and connect with other people without even leaving the house. So I'll say "Hi" back.

Hi. My name is Sue. I'm 61 and have been suffering from depression and anxiety for a very long time. I feel that I have always been very afraid of the stigma of depression and have always worked very hard to hide what I am dealing with. Hiding my real self from so many people has just left me feeling very alone.

@Daisysue I'm sorry you are feeling the stimga, and that you feel alone. You aren't alone here though, because everyone in this area understands what it's like to feel depressed. I hope you'll stay and feel a bit less alone by spending some time with us.

Hello. I'm Christi and I'm 43 years old. I'm depressed and shouldn't be. I'm married, have a decent job, good health. But my internal take on things are: I always worry about my marriage and whether he loves me (because don't know why he does), I feel stuck in a job I don't enjoy anymore, lonely for people to talk to but isolate myself. I am trying to find a way to relax and be happy with my life.

@ambitiousChestnut9758 - Hello, Christi. Welcome to our community! I'm sorry you're suffering, but you're doing a great job trying to reach out and get help, that's a huge accomplishment in itself! I understand that it may feel as though you 'shouldn't have depression -- the very nature of depression causes us to downplay its existence or impact, doubt ourselves, put ourselves down, compare ourselves, isolate ourselvse further, and all kinds of negative effects on our thinking and outlook. Depression is a beast that can weigh on anyone, regardless of our finances, social situations, or health; our depression uses comparisons to make us feel worse about ourselves. We are only human, and humans have feelings, sometimes awful feelings that last for a long time... You have a right to your own happiness too! It's so great that you are here trying to find a way back to it! That's amazing and a sign of hope for you! You're not alone in this. Keep looking for what might help you. It's okay to tackle the burdens you mentioned one at a time or together, at your own pace. There are plenty of resources for your use here on 7cups and the community is here for you too <3

@ambitiousChestnut9758

Me too, actually, I feel the exact same way as you do and it's causing my relationship to become distant and has put such a strain on it that I'm not sure it's going to last much longer. I don't work right now for the exact reason that you said you greatly disliked yours but at the same time I know I NEED one but can't get motivated to find one. I also isolate myself from people even though I'm incredibly lonely, and I shouldn't be depressed either because I have everything that some people only wish they had so, I understand what you're going through. We have so many similarities. Anyway, I just thought that was cool that you said all that with it being exactly the way I am too. Hope you have a nice day.

Good morning all, I'm a 45 year old recovering addict (an entire week!) and am struggling dealing with depression. I am a care-giver for my wife who is very sick, and has been for a long time. I'm going to try reaching out to others both for help, and perhaps to help others as well, who knows?

@Grumblebums - Good morning! Congratulations on your week, what an amazing accomplishment! Recovery through any addiction or chronic suffering like depression is not a straight line; it is a jagged, scribbled thing, and it sounds like you are doing everything you can to manuever through it. You sound like someone who has a big heart. Thank you so much for joining us here in our community! Helping other people can definitely help us appreciate ourselves or discover a new clue to our own recovery. Who knows, yes! Who knows is one of my favorite sayings, because it is very honest! Maybe even good things will happen! I appreciate your stellar attitude and your efforts in your own recovery and wanting to help others too. I wish you the best of luck in your 7cups journey and hope to see you around the community. <3

@belle16 - Welcome Belle! You're not alone, many of us have not been officially diagnosed yet and you will find other members who share in your hesitations. Just by reaching out, it's clear that you are trying and that's meaningful! You are already on your way towards recovery. 7cups is an amazing stepping stone towards finding ourselves again, and it's a great place to figure out how to express ourselves. It can be difficult to talk about depression for sure, the very nature of depression can make it difficult to talk about ourselves. Hopefully you will find the words you're looking for, or maybe even some inspiration as to how to move forward. You deserve to be in a happy mental place again! Remember how amazing you are for being able to carry this awful weight for so long and never stop looking for something that might help your wellbeing! <3

Hi, I'm a 28 year old female who has struggled with severe clinical depression for most of my life. I have developed a generalized anxiety disorder due to my depression, although if you ask me there's nothing "general" about it. I have existential and social anxiety which are categorized as " general" anxiety. Anyway, between the two conditions I have an array of daily physical, emotional, and mental symptoms that prevent me from living a normal life. I try not to let it interfere with my life and I try to keep people with positive vibes only around me, but at the same time I'm extremely compassionate and help anyone in any way I can especially when it comes to depression and anxiety.
