Changes
Are a part of life, can be expected or not, can bring great things, but can also be difficult.
Do you typically like change?
What helps make change easier?
What would you like support with?
This idea came about as the forums on 7cups will be undergoing a pretty major change, you can read more here. If there's any suggestions you have for us that we can help with (made you think there's a great disability thread that you think would be helpful to make it easy to find, as an example) you can share ideas below or reach out to someone on the team!

Do you typically like change? No, as someone with Autism I really struggle to deal with change. I am used to a set pattern and when it gets disrupted it really throws me off.
What helps make change easier? Knowing about the change ahead of time is helpful
What would you like support with? Juggling school work with medical issues right now is a challenge for me
I don't usually do well with change.
I'm struggling with the change in my health status right now. I'm feeling very hopeless about things.
@wittyGrapes7678, I understand what you are going through. It can seem hopeless at points. I try to find a positive in each thing even if it is as simple as the fact that I am still alive.
@AffyAvo
Do you typically like change? No, not at all, I have been adverse to change a lot in my life. Recently I've started embracing it, and I have had to completely uproot my life to accept it.
What helps make change easier? Hope. When I feel like this change, however bad or good, might lead me somewhere I might be happy of one day.
What would you like support with? Cleaning. I want a clean space. I'm so desperate that my health doesn't allow me to take care of my home as I'd like.
@WhenTheTimeComes Oh hope to move to the good things is a good way to look at things, even if the 1 change itself feels negative.
I hope you are able to get support with cleaning. I used to have cleaners in and stopped due to infection risk, I hope things will shift soon where I feel ok having them back! The state of things definitely show that here too.
@AffyAvo
I'm so sorry to hear that you have been deprived of help in cleaning because of the pandemic. Having to shield has been destructive to so many of us and I personally couldn't afford to in my situation, which has only led to me contracting COVID additional times (I contracted COVID before the first lockdown and have been sick for months and it left a permanent dent on my health) and decreasing my mobility/health.
I hope you'll soon have support again with cleaning, a clean space does so so much for our mental health!
@WhenTheTimeComes Sorry to hear you were sick for so long! So far I have managed to avoid COVID, I know for so many they were left in the situation where there wasn't much of a choice other than to have outsiders come into their home. I do live with my husband, so at least he does do more than 1/2 of the physical tasks. Having cleaners come in though eased the amount left on my husband to do plus it did make our place cleaner. I was also typically clearing up clutter before they showed up, even when not feeling the best. That push to take care of the culture is gone!
I don’t like things change it makes me upset and anxious and I cry just don’t know why but don’t like things change just I don’t know what make change easier though.
now I am in hospital because I get stung by wasps allergic and I want go home now won’t let me yet am very very upset ☹️
@theboymoana Change is difficult for many of us!
That's awful about the wasp sting. I hope you recover from that quickly.
@AffyAvo I just wish everything stays same ☹️
i am lot better from wasps stings but have to keep take Benadryl for couple days because allergic reactions happen even after let me go home but tomorrow is last day doctor want me take that then be all done
@AffyAvo
Do you typically like change?
I don't do well with changes, especially sudden and unexpected ones. I need time to get used to the idea of the change, plan it in my routines and everything. Which gets annoying and all, but has to be done.
What helps make change easier?
Having time to process it. Think it through and see how it affects everything. Building that routines again.
What would you like support with?
Some strong thoughts I've been dealing with for a good while, disability-wise. Seems like I can't get rid of them no matter how much I try.
@AffyAvo
Do you typically like change? No, it makes me feel unorganized/unprepared
What helps make change easier? A simple reminder to myself that nothing stay the same for ever, without change there wouldn’t be growth.
What would you like support with? Learning how to deal with people whom constantly make assumptions
