Any ideas?
Please post your ideas here. Starting the beginning of November I would like to have discussions going in the disability chat room.

What can disabled people teach able bodied people?
Is it worse to have a mental disability or a physical disability and why?
@dancingRainbow45. That is awesome question and one that would be great for discussion
Is there any difference in the way society views boys disabilities vs girls disabilities?
is there conflict between traditional and modern medicine when it comes to treatments and disability?
@dancingRainbow45 To add a question to you question, should we be attempting to treat disabilities? Are we saying that disabled people are a problem when we say they need to be "cured"?
@convivialPlum6966 Some food for thought in relation to your questions - Epilepsy can be seen as a disability and epilepsy to some degree can be treated or managed. Thats not to say those with epilepsy are cursed but unmanagable epilepsy can cause many problems in day to day living without intervention of medicine.
Another example is dylexia. There are many different forms of dyslexia which can be helped by special considerations and interventions :)
@dancingRainbow45 Fair point of view. And that makes sense. I can see how some conditions could benefit from treatment, but I don't believe every condition needs treatment.
@convivialPlum6966 I agree with you but do feel this comes down to how people view disabilities and there are many forms of disability some of which can be treated leading to a better quality of life. There are many people living with all kinds of disabilities that may not even be seen by an outsider. You may never be able to totally irradicate the disability but some forms certainly can be managed and treated,
@dancingRainbow45 If management or treatment of a disability can improve the quality of a persons life than am all for it. And I would never wish disability on anyone, but I don't want it to be irradicated from the world. I believe if this were to happen it would result in two things. The first is that some other group of people would become known as disabled, the second is that we would loose a great interepretation of the world. Check out my blog post, if you don't mind, i think I explain my point of view better here: https://spazproblems.blogspot.co.uk/2016/10/dont-do-hitler.html
How does the equality act 2010, which replaced the disability discrimination act serve to protect the rights of disabled people?
Employment law in relation to disability
Just a few areas I can think of that would be interesting to look at:
The effects of being dependent on family/close friends, and how this can strain the relationship between you and them?
The burden of disability, on yourself and those around you.
Being physically impared, yet mentally compitant and how this affects the way others treat you?
The finance of disability?
Whether disability from birth is easier/harder than disability through injury? And why?
The difference between being a "person with disabilities" and a "disabled person".
Reasons for and against assisted suicide.
The introduction of deisigner babies, in other words, genetically ensuring disability does not occur.
I've brought up a few times with discussion leaders that I was willing to put together a discussion on triggers, but I don't really want to lead a discussion.
How to cope with the pain that disability brings?
