HAE Day :-)
May 16 is HAE Day :-)
Hereditary angioedema is a genetic condition (hereditary) that results in too much bradykinin. Bradykinin causes blood vessels (angio) to increase the permeability, allowing fluid to leak into the surrounding tissue. This causes swelling (edema) attacks which are often very painful, debilitating, and depending on the location can be life threatening.
