“Performing healthy habits with no reward”

Hi all, i was wondering if any others have felt the same way as me. I feel like i am desperately doing the “right things” for my chronic illness. But instead of feeling better, i am still ill/in pain.

It exhausting to perform good health with no reward. The reward in this case would be feeling less ill and more energized.

@Shadeshack

I can understand why you would wish to see the benefits of your hard work, that's completely understandable.

I am sorry you are struggling and I genuinely hope you start seeing progress soon 🩷

@Shadeshack

is it something that takes some time. I know that when i start something for my health maybe eating better or other habits it takes time to see results.

I can understand the frustration. maybe you will have small improvements or realization of the benefits soon.

@Shadeshack Sometimes with chronic illness the reward is slowing down the progression which really doesn't feel like much of a reward, does it?

There's also the things we do for our health which makes us feel worse in the short term.

I hate not feeling productive but some days I am very limited, can you make a to do list of the essentials but stop when you feel you are too exhausted/too delicate to continue?

It's hard to realise I'm not the same person I was, she could do a lot more effortlessly and now I have to adapt and cut myself a break because I'm all too prone to strains and if that happens, I'm worse off because I can't do anything then.

If possible ask for assistance. Taking care of yourself is just as important as functioning.
