hi all

i have both mental illness and am disabled. i am 54yr old been on SSI since i was about 34yr old. it hard as my disabilities  not really change my looks as in others can see them. i live in pain 24/7 due to febro  and 2 types of neuropathy  too. i have a long listed of health issues too. it hard as others make comments in stores when i use the motorized  carts to get around in stores in. i am overweight so all they see is that. so hear things like if she walked maybe she lose weight or she should  not be using that she should let ones who really need it use it. heard other comments too they was not very nice at all.  so people not ask questions they just assume  things most the time they wrong too. even have family members that have did that to me.  some not believe in fibro at all too. they say it not  real just the person lazy.  can anyone relate to what i am saying

@stormieandpaws I've used a motorized cart a few times and had a bad experience the 1st time.

Some people can be so odd about them, if I consistently needed a mobility aid, I would have one (as would most, barring of course financial, healthcare, etc. barriers). People who use the store ones are often using store ones because we need the support for shopping, we do not a wheelchair for tasks throughout our day!

I hope you find the community here beneficial!

@AffyAvo

thank you yes your right. but so many people look at ones weight and believe that the issue. they really should not assume  that but sadly many do. if i can not get a motorized cart when shopping. i end up almost passing out due to pain. so that main reason i use them. doctors are amazed  i still walking i can not use cane or walker much due to it shots pain up my arm. but i walk as much as i can. also still can get down on floor and back up. yes painful but if one not use it they lose the ability  too. most say i am very bullheaded but that helped me to survive  too. nice meeting you too

Their opinions doesn’t matter, you should ignore them as much as you can and don’t give them listening ears event again

Hey! I don’t really know you but please don’t let anyone get to you. Having a disability is something to be proud of because you are a fighter and every minute you’re fighting means that a beautiful blessing is around the corner. Remember that your disability will not go on forever. There are many people on 7 cups and in the world who have a disability (or many disabilities). Just because you have a disabilty, doesn’t mean you should be made fun of. You are one in a million. You are special to God. You are a special human being. Please don’t give up because you matter. The world needs you to tell your story because your disability is a blessing in disguise. I know you’re strong because you’ve come a long way. Please try to practice good coping skills to deal with the pain. Hope this helps. - Hannah
