1) When did you first start to experience migraines?
I started experiencing them 4 years ago.
2) How has this diagnosis impacted your life?
I have learned to cope with them but sometimes it can be hard since it has an impact on your daily life activities and also on how you function.
@tranquilbear14
I'm sorry to hear that, its good how you have learned to live with it. Thank you for sharing with us
@tranquilbear14
Coping is sometimes what is all we can do when a migraine attacks come on. Do you know what triggers your migraine? Sometimes this helps prevent it from getting out of control
@Keola
I'm not sure, I think when i'm very stressed it triggers it but thanfully i'm not getting as many migraines as I used to in the past
@tranquilbear14
That is so great to hear :D
@Hope
1: i first starting experiencing them 3 years ago
2: it can get difficult to do daily tasks and even doing the smallest thing becomes a struggle
@Hope
1) When did you first start to experience migraines?
I started to experience migraines 6 years ago, initially infrequently, but recently much more.
2) How has this diagnosis impacted your life?
I have yet to find a successful solution to solve migraine pain, but I am able to deal with it better now, and attempt to prevent. I went through a stage of chronic migraines, and it was a big impact on my daily functionality and mental health. However, reducing my stress and improving my sleep has helped with managing this!
@ElleAndFox
I'm sorry, I understand how difficult it can be. I hope you learn how to cope and have a healthy lifestyle with it. Have you tried any type of medication for it?
1) When did you first start to experience migraines?
I had my first migraines in my late teens. At first, we thought it was birth control pills, but they didn't let up when I went off of them. So we started trying to get rid of them. Still no luck.
2) How has this diagnosis impacted your life?
It has crippled me, literally. I've been on disability for several years because I couldn't even manage to work from home. The migraines, combined with mental health issues, have made me mostly sedentary and have resulted in other health problems. Several times a week, I'll say something like, "I'm sick of being in constant pain."
However, it has also made me more resilient. I have a higher tolerance for pain, and oftentimes I'm able to function even when I'm hurting.
@Whisper292
I'm really sorry to hear that, thank you so much for sharing with us. it takes an awful lot of strength to go through all that, I hope they get better soon,
1) When did you first start to experience migraines?
I first started experiencing migraines when I was nine, so 29 years ago.
2) How has this diagnosis impacted your life?
Migraines have just become something else for me to live through. I get them an average of once a month now. They don't cause me too much concern unless a new symptom develops. The first time I experienced a visual aura, it freaked me out. Same the first time I had a "silent" migraine.
@ragtad
Im so sorry to hear that. its good to know that you are doing well
. Good to know that you are doing okay right now
1) When did you first start to experience migraines?
ever since i was a kid i thought headaches and migraines were normal until i was 15 and that's when i got my first paralyzing migraine attack. They happen when i'm super stressed out or even randomly.
2) How has this diagnosis impacted your life?
the diagnoses really impacted my life in a negative way because the whole right side of my body will become paralyzed but sometimes it's just my right arm or my right leg. It's really hard to deal with it but i haven't had an episode in over a week or two.
@NessaNova hey there! I understand that you thought migraines were normal! Many people experience them, and think them to be just a day to day occurance! I am sorry you deal with paralyzing migraine attacks! It is good you are able to identify the trigger of feeling stressed out! I get that it must have impacted you negatively! They can be such a hard thing to go through <3 its wonderful you havent had one in a week or two!! Take care, and thanks for participating!
I am sorry to hear everyone have experienced migraine attacks. It it truly debilitating when it comes on, I know I am on the bed when mine comes on really bad or if it comes on at work, I have to somehow push through it. It is nice (possibly a bad choice in word) but it is nice to know that I am not alone. And know that we are here for each other *hugs*
I think it was around mid teens when they first started
Sometimes I get auras with them and usually there's a window of time before they hit. But I don't allways get the auras and get the migraine. Then to keep it interesting - I'll get the auras but no migraine. When they hit full force - they make me sick and nothing seems to touch them. I've had them last days allready and have had to go to get a shot to make it better. Stress makes it worse and makes them come on more often. But - Idk - they're unpredictable most of the time
No I do not get them but my dad and sister gets them.
