Growing a backbone
My parents have controlled everything in my life. From my money to my relationships and I’m sick of it. I have a tracker on my phone, I get told I can’t be with someone because he’s not a right fit for the family. Meanwhile dating isn’t what it used to be when they went out (90’s). They criticized everything and expect me to be their perfect little girl and I’m so tired of it. How do I take charge of my life and be more independent and fix everything that’s been broken by them?

I'm sorry to hear that your parents can be controlling. It must be hard to live up to those kind of expectations. I think that any kind of relationship benefits from boundaries. Have you ever tried to explore setting some healthy boundaries? 💜
I found that when I became an adult I too had to assert myself as an equal. Learning to be an adult is hard on parents because they are loosing the child they knew and loved. As my family and I learned to see eye to eye it became an amazing relationship. This did not come with growing pains.
Boundaries and Communication that you still love and appreciate your parents
accept they may not appreciate you telling them you are stepping out on your own
Continue to listen to their advice and consider if it’s a good thought for you. They have more experience in this world for some things
It is indeed tricky to break free from the talons of one's helicopter parents. About the only solution is to hide the details of your life and make your activity unpredictable so they cannot control you even if they want to. Perhaps buy a burner phone like a tracfone to evade their trackers. I wish you the best in your great escape.
