Icw depression I was wondering if it is 'normal' for a parent to respond to their (adult) children's distress in depressive episode with sending a list of all their own problems.... As if to belittle my own

in my opinion yes. This has been happening to me a lot lately. It makes you feel like you’re not really being heard or your emotions are being diminished.

It's certainly common. It's very sad to me how few people are taught to handle feelings. How can a parent teach their child about feelings when they don't even know themselves? Sometimes I think people who do this are just trying to express solidarity. But, yes, it completely comes across as dismissive and unhelpful. I hope you find the support you are looking for.

As a mom of a depressed child and known to have depression myself :

Apparently it's common for people to dismiss what they don't understand.

But it is not okay.

No matter how bad our relationship got, I would never think of adding my problems to my child's. Because that is just not okay. Your feelings matter, your problems are important, no matter what hardships others face
