Hi everyone! I hope you are well. People tend to have complicated relationships with families. For some its a love-hate relationship and for others, it borders on one side or the other. Regardless as human beings we harbour many wishes.

When you reflect on your family life, what do you wish was done differently?

@Hope One thing I wish my family did differently was acknowledge my feelings without getting offended. My mom thinks that any negative emotion is a direct attack on her ability as a mother, and she ends up yelling at me for expressing my honest feelings.

I wish I hadn't been raised according to a close-minded, conservative belief system. It caused me to go through some trauma that could have been avoided, it restricts my current relationship with my family, and I see it happening to my nieces and nephews as well.

@Hope

I wish that my family would be there for me when I need them like I was there for them

I wish my mother of all, would take the time to realize im a human being aswell, and have feelings too. Shes not the only person in the world who experiences sadness or stress. Im her daughter, not her punching bag.

The way my father thinks.

He's very stereotypical, sexist, misogynistic, yet shows his love in material stuff.

I just wish that my parents weren't narcissists and never misled me. That

one thing I wish my family would have done differently was communicate. Not as relevant on my moms side of the family, but my dads side tends to bottle things up or ignore problems and it truly has become an issue more times than not
