(2025 Highlight Reel Series) What is the "Best Mistake" you made this year?
Hi, everyone! Welcome back to our 2025 Highlight Reel series!
So far, we’ve given ourselves trophies for surviving the tough stuff and shared unexpected twists. (Make sure to visit these posts if you haven't!)
Today, I want to celebrate the imperfect moments.
We spend a lot of time worrying about making mistakes, "failing," or having our plans fall apart. But sometimes, a wrong turn actually leads us to a better destination. As the painter Bob Ross used to say, sometimes there are no mistakes, just "happy accidents."
Looking back at 2025, what was your "Best Mistake"?
Maybe you overslept and missed an event, but that extra rest was exactly what your body needed. Maybe you "failed" at a new hobby, but the process taught you patience or led you to a different passion. Or maybe a cancelled plan or a breakup felt like a disaster at the time, but it opened the door for something (or someone) much better.
Let’s reframe those "oops" moments. Share a time this year when things went "wrong," but it turned out to be exactly right!

My best mistake was randomly coming across seven cups 🥰 the best thing I've ever done and I've learnt so much and am greatful to be a listener here 💖
For a long time, I believed rest meant falling behind and that proving my strength meant pushing through everything quietly. When my body and mind finally forced me to pause, I saw it as a failure at first. Plans shifted. My pace changed. I had to listen instead of powering through.
What felt like a setback turned out to be a reset.
Slowing down taught me how to actually hear myself and others. It reshaped how I show up in recovery, in learning, and now in supporting people who just need to be heard. I learned that being present is more powerful than being perfect, and that sustainability matters more than speed. That “mistake” didn’t derail me. It redirected me to something healthier, steadier, and real.

Being authentic and getting in a "fight" instead of always pleasing others. I lost a group that I loved but I ended up getting some inspiring people later. If I avoided the situation like I always do, I wouldn't attend the places I was previously avoiding, thus finding those people. So, that was the best mistake that happened.
I was searching for an art gallery called Otherworld and I found Art Space by accident .
Art Space is an art therapy studio

Trust haha 😆 i did trust someone and paying the price right now .
I shall celebrate my tough mistakes. I got sucked into an toxic language app that had too much flexibility ...and from that shone a light that I'm more ahead of them in humanity wise while they are still in their murky mindsets...

I decided I was going to take some time away from social media to focus on my career interests, which eventually led me to 7Cups. I immersed myself in the site and various forms of online education, and while I did so, I let my social media go by the wayside. Pretty soon it didn't matter, because the people that mattered knew where I was. The people that didn't, didn't bother to even check in. The F word should be changed to "fake".
SO oops...left social media behind! I'm better off for that "mistake".

I don't know if it can be called a mistake. I started standing up for myself in front of my Boss after 8.5 years of work with him. He didn't like it however it was liberating for me. I refused to do tasks for which I wasn't appointment and eventually out of anger, he threw me under the bus and transferred to me another department.
I heard somewhere, sometimes in life, we act or behave in a certain manner, which is basically against our very core or nature or way of being. However, when you start to stand up for yourself or try to change (cuz you know the world will not change), people can't accept it.
Now continuing, this small mistake (which we say to ourselves) and such big consequence or result, does not mean we are at fault. It is universe's way of creating circumstance for us in such a manner than you end up acting in a certain way, which leads to undesirable result.
However, we need to understand that this is universes way of getting us out of the rut and creating new path which we are forced to follow, however undesirable it might seem right now.
I am still under the bus, however I think the day wheel of fortune is back of top, I shall find myself in a much better position than I could ever imagine, working with amazing people in a wonderful atmosphere.
In future, when I look back at today, I shall be thankful for whatever happened, cuz it was for my highest good.
Sometimes we need a kick or a hard shake in life to start our life's journey in a new direction, which otherwise we would have been unwilling or feared to take.
Signing off...
Right now under the bus.. but alive and kicking and breathing....
Will be back on top.... amen...
My biggest "mistake" was letting my husband walk out the door. We had been arguing for MONTHS. It came to a head one night not long ago and he said he was packing a bag and leaving and, for once, I didn't stop him. I didn't beg him to stay. I told him to go if that's what he wanted and we could call an attorney the following week and start the separation process if that's what he wanted. I calmly told him that I wouldn't fight it because its not what I wanted and I loved him but neither of us were happy so it was probably for the best. He packed a bag and said he'd sleep on the couch that night and find somewhere to go the next day. That lasted 45 minutes. He came back to the room and said that he couldn't stand the thought of losing us. We've been working to fix it ever since. Its not perfect but we are trying. We both agree that our marriage might still end but after 12 years together, we owed to each other and our kids to give it everything we had to try ans save it.
