Happy endings scam

Don't know who agrees but the whole idea of "if it isn't a happy ending then it's not the end" and the idea of the happy ending in movies and how the main character gets it all in the end is a very toxic unrealistic idea. Life is full of hardships and happy endings can happen but not all the time. I think that we are so brainwashed by that concept so now life is much harder and we tend to take so much time dealing with the unpleasant events that happen to us. Not sure about you but i lost years of my life aching over friendships that had an unexplainable end and what made that pain take so much time is because of the idea of "There must be a happy ending" i just couldn't believe that's how things are, that sometimes there is just no closure and no happy ending. So i guess that concept makes us very fragile and less flexible.

Would like to hear your thoughts about it!

Yes, definitely!  Movies aren't usually reality. My happy ending is that I simply survived in a dubious world..🌲

Sometimes we're so fixed on a "happy ending" we dont focus on improving the now.

It was a bitter shock to me when I realized there are no guaranteed happy endings. We see all these horrid ends to good people and feel sort of invincible to it, like it could never happen to us. But it could. And acknowledging that can be the motivation needed to create as many happy moments as we can, now.

I respect your opinion. But I have a different perspective as well.

@AThoughtfulMango not much in my life was going great and movies were a much needed outlet and distraction. The happy endings feel good stuff were a positive thing. To each their own but I feel we are what we focus on.

I agree that if we cant always have irl happy endings, its nice to atleast see that happiness in the media we consume. It creates hope, and hope is essential.

I broke up with my bf. I loved him so much and still love him. But i know there were some lies, some unclear situations, so if we be be together it ll be a toxic relationship ever. I thought our end gonna be a marriage. I ll travel with him all over the world. But what happened. Just heartbreak. Even love couldnt save our relationship. And mom and dad left me as kid. We live irl. And this life is not heaven. We just trying our best. Maybe some days we dont trying. We just surviving. So there shouldnt be always a success. Even if u dont have a success u still try and this also a success in this terrible world. ❤️

depending on the genre, sometimes I find the happy ending scam pretty good. my life is a struggle. I don't wanna see another drama to see a sad ending or an opened ending. i also like to know that after the main character goes thru all that struggles, he/she finally made it thus a happy ending. something i might never reach in my life time. my life is already so miserable, I don't wanna go see another character with misery and end with misery. i usually don't have an issue unless the script is so so unrealistic whether it be the struggle, how it is solved, or just a lots of pot holes - then yes the happy ending is so generated.

some happy ending truly are unrealistic like Disney princess movies. to us adults, the ending might be unrealistic but to children that could be all that they need to know.

i think overall, this happy ending scam is entertainment. people aren't gonna pay for a bad script with happy ending to it, but they will pay for a good scrip with happy ending slap on top of it. people like dreams and hopes and entertainment sells that. even if my life isn't happy and probably won't end in happiness I feel a little better knowing that a character i enjoy watching is given a happy ending.
