Breaking The Overthinking Trap Day 1
📅 Day 1: Spotting the Loop (Awareness Over Judgement)
Welcome to Day 1! Today, we aren't trying to stop our thoughts—we are just learning to notice them. Overthinking often feels like a treadmill; your mind is running incredibly fast, but you aren't actually getting anywhere.
Today, your only job is to notice when you've hopped on the treadmill.
🔍 Deep Dive Explanation
Overthinking disguises itself as "problem-solving," but there is a major difference. Problem-solving leads to a solution or an action. Overthinking just loops the same worried questions over and over. When you catch yourself spinning, don't get mad at your brain. Just gently say to yourself, "Ah, there is that loop again." Awareness is the first step to breaking the trap.

Future, ageing. Sometimes intense overthinking triggers anxiety and eventually an anxiety attack.
@trueconfidant123
Oh I see. This must be really overwhelming. Do you have any coping mechanisms?
One definite topic is greed or corruption that I see happening.
It feels a little like a stomachache. I think it makes me appear irritable, and can make me feel fired up or tired
@Torean
Oh I see! Valid reasons to get triggered. Do you have any coping mechanisms?
@cheerfulKiwi1776
for me I don't think that there's really a specific scenario that triggers overthinking bc I overthink literally everything. It can be writing and sending a message, talking with someone, and I replay old conversations in my head which leads to overthinking that too.
I think its usually my chest usually feels tight when I start overthinking.
@IzzyGamer
Oh I see. I also have many things about overthinking stuff haha not only 1 or 2 triggers like I almost overthink everything haha.
Do you have any coping mechanisms on that?
A scenario - If I'm talking to/with someone and they're quiet or in a bad mood, I start thinking that I must have done or said something to upset them.
I get restless, fast heart beat, tense shoulders.
.
@mytwistedsoul
Oh yea that scenario hits different! I get it. I also know those symptoms must feel hard. Do you have any coping mechanisms?
@cheerfulKiwi1776 Sometimes I'll go for a walk or use the 333 grounding method. Music helps too
@cheerfulKiwi1776
What is a specific topic or scenario that usually triggers your overthinking treadmill?
mostly when i think i did something wrong or think i disappointed others then i overthink ways i did and how they must feel about me
• How does your body physically feel when you start overthinking (e.g., tight chest, clenched jaw, restlessness)? mostly body feel restless and like tight
@HopeWithinDarkness
Oh that must be hard. I do it as well. Do you have any coping mechanisms?
@cheerfulKiwi1776
I don't overthink everything but I definitely overthink quite a bit. One thing that has helped me is identifying smaller decisions and just going for it and seeing how it goes. Seeing that many things don't go as bad as I thought has helped a lot.
When it comes to people and overthinking I had a friend tell me that most people are only thinking about you for 5% of their day. And for some reason that helped me a lot.
