Breaking The Overthinking Trap Day 2

📅 Day 2: The "Brain Dump" (Getting It Out of Your Head)

Welcome to Day 2! When we overthink, our brain treats thoughts like physical objects cluttering a room. Today, we are going to clear the space.

🔍 Deep Dive Explanation

Trying to organize your thoughts inside your head is like trying to organize a messy closet while standing in the dark. A "Brain Dump" is the act of writing down literally everything in your mind without editing or censoring it. Once it is on paper (or in a digital note), it loses its chaotic power. You are showing your brain: I see this, it is safe, and it doesn't need to loop anymore.

❓ Reflection Questions for the Comments

• Set a timer for 3 minutes and do a quick brain dump. How did it feel to see those thoughts outside of your head?

• Do you tend to overthink more in the morning, during the day, or right before bed?

Heyy bestie 💖

This series is really helpful for all overthinkers and trust me almost all of us overthink.

•I think I've done a brain dump in my diary a few times and honestly sometimes it makes me cry when I can separate out the thoughts and some of them hurt individually.

•I overthink 24/7 but yeah I am up alone with my thoughts tilll 2-3am most nights and they don't let me sleep. I think I might have insomnia but that's another story 😛

Keep up the good work ✨

Brain dump:

Oh my goodness, oh my gracious, I have no idea and I don't know. What to think about... Something. I guess Madonna did the James Bond song for D*e Another Day. That's random. So, happily, happy days, would be happy days, I just need my car issue and that other issue to go away now. I wish I didn't feel so tired. I'm getting serious muscle. That's good. I wanna watch a movie. I don't want to have to feel weird about video games. I'm tired of companies and CEOs. Can my job just be ousting CEOs? I'd love that job. Everyone would love me except for super evil and greedy people. Does anyone really love me? They have weird taste if they do. Who can really look at me and be like... That dude. I mean, sure, but being attracted to me... That's a different story. Weird taste. Y'know, I wonder if I'd taste weird to a predator. Probably. Maybe the addictive kind of weird, like those taro root chips.

It felt interesting to get that out. I think typing it out changed my thinking process a little. 😅

I overthink lots during the day or right before bed. Not so much in the morning... Maybe if I'm rushed.

When I used to journal I used to do brain dumps and it sort of helped, sometimes it didn't.

I don't think that theres like a specific time when I overthink, as I overthink like most of the day. I think though that it gets worse in the mornings and before bed.

@cheerfulKiwi1776  I always find myself overthinking late at night. I start reflecting on those group dynamics and how close everyone seemed. But then I remember the unequal treatment—that specific kind of loneliness you feel even when surrounded by a crowd.
I have zero tolerance for unfairness and hypercritical language. That kind of system might push some people forward, but it burns out just as many. Having gone through it once, I won't allow myself to be put in that position again.
I can't accept a dynamic where there's no support, where one person is expected to do all the heavy lifting while all the recognition and opportunities flow to others.
I know I’m still growing, and I’m not that kind of leader yet. But through this whole experience, I realized something: I am a person with boundaries.
I now know where I don't belong, and I have a much clearer picture of who I am.
Thank you for sharing this knowledge with us 💙.

Going through a separation/divorce at the moment and I always find myself overthinking what she’s doing and what she’s up to and it drives me insane. It’s been 2 years and she’s moved on and looks so happy. It gets me jealous because I’m still hurting and makes me feel like I’m not worthy for anyone else.

I get how this can feel. Getting unstuck and moving forward from something like this is really hsrd. I believe in you though

@cheerfulKiwi1776 I just can’t fathom how she was able to move on so quickly. I always ask myself how she was able to do such a thing and then my mind starts to spiral. Even now while I’m typing this. I even wrote a poem about it and I’ve been wanting to share it but I get too embarrassed

@NatealmostGreat

You can always share the poem in a forum post.

So, overthinking and spiraling over it won't help. Sometimes in life we have to accept that people will come and go, some won't stay forever even if they are as close as she was to you. We dont hsve and dont need to chace after them. Let them go. Grief in your way but dont let it consume you. Make attempts to make things up (if you think this would help) but if not stop it. Let things go. When we cannot overcome something we need to let it go

I'm a couple days late. Sorry about that.

I used to do brain dumps often, now not so much. It's a little scary to let some of them out.

It hits at different times during the day. Some days it's in the morning and then it lasts all day. Other times it comes at night
