Breaking The Overthinking Trap Day 7 (final day)
📅 Day 7: The Lifelong Practice (Evolving at Your Own Pace)
You made it to Day 7! Give yourself a massive amount of credit for showing up every day this week.
Learning to quiet an overactive mind after a lifetime of overthinking is not a switch you flip; it is a brand-new language you are learning to speak. You wouldn’t expect to be fluent in French after seven days, so please do not expect yourself to be an expert Zen master today.
Progress in this journey is quiet. It looks like:
• Realizing you are looping before you spiral into a panic.
• Taking a deep breath and saying, "That is a thought, not a fact."
• Writing down a brain dump, even if you tear the paper up right after.
• Simply acknowledging to yourself, “My brain is trying to protect me by overthinking right now, and that is okay.”
Every single time you catch a spinning thought—even if you can't completely stop it—you are breaking down that invisible trap. You are teaching your brain that you are the one in the driver's seat, not your worries.
🔍 Deep Dive Explanation
Healing is cyclical, not linear. You will have weeks where you feel calm and centered, and weeks where your mind completely freezes up and overanalyzes everything again. This is not failure; it is just your nervous system resting and processing. Trust the process, keep using your tools, and remember that your community here on 7 Cups is always walking right beside you.
❓ Reflection Questions for the Comments
• What was your biggest "aha!" moment or takeaway from this one-week program?
• Write a message of encouragement to your future self for the next time you feel stuck inside the overthinking trap.

It has to be the setting time aside for overthinking. That way I'd be in control of my self critique. A message for my future self would be- you're not the only one who's stuck, people struggle much more than you and they bounce back from the lowest points and so should you.
@trueconfidant123
Nice thought about setting time aside. Abiut the message I think its nice but do not say to yourself that others have it worse. Your experiences, challenges and feelings are as valid as theirs
@cheerfulKiwi1776
I know. Thanks.
@trueconfidant123
By any chance you have the link to tockify so I can submit an event on the community calendar? Thanks
@cheerfulKiwi1776 I've no idea about that. Sorry.
@trueconfidant123
Any chance you know who should I contact? Like @Amanda84 might know?
@cheerfulKiwi1776 she might not. Why don't you ask in the listener support room? I've posted a message on the adult side and if I get a response, I shall update you here because we can't connect through pms.
@trueconfidant123
Unfortunately most people dont answer there. I sent a PM to another listener. She gave me the link. Thank you so much for your help!
@cheerfulKiwi1776 great!

@cheerfulKiwi1776 thank you, I appreciate it!
@cheerfulKiwi1776
I think the biggest takeaway I've had was determining like the physical feelings I have when I start to overthink things and also just realizing that not everything I overthink about is true.
My message would be that I don't have to face everything alone.
