You could also say adversity is not a detour; it is the path itself.
We often operate under the illusion that life is a straight line and any obstacle is a glitch in the system. But if you look at any great story, or any meaningful achievement, the obstacle is usually the exact thing that forced the necessary growth. Without the resistance, there is no muscle; without the friction, there is no fire.

I didn't plan for anything that's happened over the past year and a half, but it taught me that I can handle pretty much anything!!
(now I just need to remember this while I find housing hehe)
I didn't plan for my mental illness, but it taught me a BA in psychology and could help myself and others as a psychotherapist and researcher.

I didn't plan to be trafficked, but it taught me to be merciless when it was time to strike.
I didn't plan for being a victim from bullying (mix with jealousy from employees) in professional work environment nor being stalked and/or harassed by the bullies' network outreach.
But it taught me that even older employees become jealous regardless of age and bullying does not stop within education institution.
