Has anyone been to mental hospital/ psychiatric ward?

I am so glad your experience there was a good one! I've been in the psych hospital about 11 times, in 6 different hospitals and each one is different. Its strange when you tell someone who's never been, that the food was good they were helpful and it was nice, they look at you like you're crazy. But those of us who have been there talk about it like we were there for a physical sickness. We talk about the food, the people there, how nice the doctors and nurses were.

I'm glad your experience was so great, a bad psych hospital experience can be traumatizing.

Hope you're doing good! I was in hospital too last year. I spent a week there. The food was good too and I had a nice roommate. He bought me a pizza and we talk from time to time since.

I wish you well on your recovery and i'm pleased that your experiences were positive ones.

I've been sectioned a few times and it has been horrendous. The staff saw us as a nuisance to be somehow controlled...usually by drugs that we had no idea were being prescribed for us. The indignity of not even being allowed to go to the bathroom by oneself. Living behind locked doors. You were lucky with the food, as i wouldn't have considered our food fit for pig swill. I never ever felt safe and eventually i told them what they wanted to hear in order to get home. As with everything...there are good and bad everywhere.

I have the opportunity to work in these facilities that you have mentioned. If at any time that you need support or just a listener hit me up. Congrats on coming out of these facilities with a positive attitude. This is not really the attitude I see most of the time for those that really need a professional diagnosis by a Psychologist or Psychiatrist. Thank you for your input and coming to 7cups.
