I feel useless
Hi, i previously talked about my life story and explaining my whole situation (if you wanna know it, *** it’d be nice to talk it privately) anyways, I just feel useless I’m a 17 year old male who as for now doesn’t do anything else other than stay in his house all day gaming, at the begging of the summer I had a job, I wanted to quit it and find a new one because the pay was just mediocre and they wouldn’t give me more hours, I then started working at a store, problem was it was only temporarily for the 4th of July and all that, when I stopped working on the 6th I started feeling so useless, I’ve been feeling this way for a long time but if it gets more noticeable during summer because I have NOTHING to do, I have 1300 on my bank account rn and even tho that’s a lot, I have to help my mom pay stuff every month so I just can’t chill as the money disappears, not doing anything productive for so long just makes me feel like a waste of oxygen, specially when I KNOW I have to work out because I’m too skinny and I need to be different so maybe I could have better chances at social situations (not like couple wise, just like get more accepted and not being made fun of over my skinniness) if I can’t do all the different types of summer activities teens my age do because I have no friends, like go to pools, parties, sleepovers etc, I should at least do something productive. But my useless *** can’t even do that…
@uknown333
Honestly I go through that type of feelings all the time too. I know it's hard and i understand why you feel that way from your perspective but trust me there are still some people out there who care about you and genuinely likes you. You just have to look closely. Idk your life story but I would love to be able to help you out. If you are interested that is.
@uknown333
Hey …
I first saw your name along with @Creamyyy in the Pen Pal forum. I wasn't sure about intruding because I didn't see the usual warnings about the contents being private, but then I saw this post.
Isolation is the worst, so I’m here to offer a listening ear or at least an alternative to the crazy thoughts that get us tangled up.
So are you going into senior year?
You say you're too skinny? Have you ever heard about accountability partners? It’s where you and a partner can encourage each other toward reaching your goals: they can be for mutual goals, like exercising … or separate goals like when I met my wife, I was writing “a book” and she was learning the flute.
Anyway, there's a lot of support here at 7Cups.
Feel free to reach out, anytime!
Tom
@uknown333 I'm really sorry to hear that. I want you to know that you're not alone in this 🤍 I can relate to you. Please try to be gentle with yourself ❤️ You don't deserve to be treated that way, and you truly matter 💝 I hope you find the support here 🍀 Sending lots of love your way ❤️❤️
Hey,I know you’ve heard a lot about being gentle on yourself and taking it easy too but honestly,that’s the truth.You have to be gentle with yourself.I was in this situation and what helped me was remembering that the goal is to be a better version of myself.Look for anything you’re stupendously good at e.g writing,drawing etc and then make it more than just an hobby,make it a source of income too.You’ll find friends in and out of that circle.This is long I know,my point is you have to be confident in your body because the thing about confidence is that,no one knows if you’re faking it or not✨ I can as well be a listening ear to you since I can’t get anyone to listen to my story
Hi @unknown333,
I know how you feel. Despite the trying, it never feels enough.
If you ever want to talk then I'm here because it will eventually get better 🤎
Hey, I too am having a similar summer. I had to leave my job and now panicking over what the future holds for me. And I am 40 years old! You'd think someone would have it figured out by this age but the truth is. Life happens! And it will keep happening. Like a roller-coaster of ups and downs that never stops. For me its all about perspective. I could beat myself up for not having it down right and make myself miserable OR I could do something to help myself even if it's a tiny step towards a goal. Oftentimes we stop ourselves from achieving our goals because of the sheer effort of taking that first step towards the thing we want. Nothing we desire comes easily. Gotta work hard at it but all the while being kind to ourselves. Instead of " I must do this so that others like me" think " I must do this so I like me". Trust in yourself and your ability. In my case, the only one holding me back is me. (Sorry to make this about my journey, but hope you get what im trying to say here)
Not about me, but I appreciated your response, because even when you’re older, this stuff still happens! I think it’s important that young folks know that we learn all the time, and it’s like the base of all things, I guess!
What you’re feeling is real, and you’re absolutely not alone. A lot of people your age (and older) have gone through similar stretches of life where it feels like everything is stuck, like you’re wasting time, and like you’re not living up to who you could be.
Let’s break this down piece by piece. I’m not here to sugarcoat things, but I’ll also be direct with you because it sounds like that’s what you need right now.
Message me so we can talk more about it dear
@generousWings3692 can we talk ?
@uknown333
Feeling useless isn’t weakness.
It’s a symptom of being too aware and too stuck at the same time.
You’re not behind because you play games.
You’re behind because no one ever taught you how to build momentum without approval.
But here’s your cheat code:
– 10 pushups a day
– 15 min walk
– 1 new job applied
– 1 conversation with a stranger
– 1 plan for tomorrow
Do that for a week.
You’ll meet the version of you that doesn’t hate the mirror anymore.
And trust me ---> he’s worth meeting.
First of all, don’t be so hard on yourself. Second, You are not a waste of space or oxygen because you are willing. The only issue you have is the lack of opportunities. See if there is any volunteer work you can do (food bank, Boys and Girls Club, tutoring younger kids, get involved in an active church where they have a lot of community service). You don’t have to have friends to do this and if you your work ethics are the same as your willingness, any place would be happy to have you.
