I have every advantage yet life feels dull..
Hello, just found this and figured it'd be a good way to at least get my thoughts out into the world and off my chest. Here it goes..
To start off I'm 28. I have basically almost every advantage in life to be successful and I feel indifferent. I'm a 6'4 guy, in shape, I'm not ugly (not a man dime tho) I do not struggle to talk to women, I have an active social life when I want and I am my own boss. I had an athletic and a academic scholarship to go to a private university. I speak 2 languages. I've traveled out of the country. I've had many accolades in sports. When I did work in corporate I've gotten to work on the best teams etc. I read a lot over various subject like personal development, spirituality, finances, mindset and stuff. I have a near photographic memory. I've made in most peoples yearly salary in one month and I've also had my bank account go negative other months. Everyone I meet always says "man if there's anyone to do it, it you!" I've been told that my entire life and it aggravates me so much but I've gotten better about it.
I am not writing this to brag but I am just trying to paint the picture. If I have all of this going for me .. why don't I feel like it? To be clear I come from a very "average" family. Raised by a single mom, youngest of 4 but I wouldn't say we were poor. We for sure were not wealthy though. But we weren't missing meals or anything.
It's like there's this grayscale filter over life. Everyones in this giant see though box and I'm just on the outside looking in. I don't understand most peoples "drama" in life as it can easily be solved in my opinion. I cauld not talk to someone for months on end and then pick right back up as if no time has passed. I've worked 80 hour weeks and I've worked 20 hour weeks. No difference to me. I don't desire a luxury house or anything. If I go on vacation I'm ready to leave after the 2nd or 3rd day. Not a huge car guy either. As long as it runs and is safe. It seems that I'm just the odd one out.
For a while it was like my soul was a dried up leaf and any pressure put on it would make it crumble. I wouldn't say it's like that now but definitely ... just bland. To be clear, I am not suicidal nor am I depressed. I don't have those feelings. I've never self harmed. I am extremely hard on myself though. But yeah, it's like I know I do have a lot of talent to use but I almost don't ... care? I'm not sure that's the right word but it is hard to motivate myself to get up and do stuff although I am making sure I'm clean and well kept.
So not sure if that makes any sense. I think I'm searching for something and I don't even know what that "something" is. It's like I'm trying to meet myself.
Thank you internet for being a spot for me to free flow. Take care everyone.
@helpfulLemon8320 hi sweetie, I'm Lola 💖 first of all welcome to 7 cups 💗 you know it doesn't matter who's had it easy or who's had it hard, doesn't matter if your rich or poor, it doesn't matter where you came from, we all feel the same emotions we are all human 💖 so don't be hard on yourself 💖 to me it seems like the thing your missing/searching for is the key to a good life and that's happiness. Money/looks/talents don't necessarily mean happiness, so try thinking about what things will make you smile/laugh not just on the outside but deep down. For me it's little things like watching the sunrise, art and crafts a good song💖 gives you a giant tiny hug 💗 I hope this helps even just a little bit💖
@Tinywhisper11 appreciate you girl
@helpfulLemon8320 💖💖💖
@helpfulLemon8320 welcome to seven cups and nice to meet you 💜🥰 I appreciate the honesty, it's refreshing. I understand what you mean, nothing is wrong yet everything feels wrong and you cannot out your finger on it. What truly matters to me and gives the only true substance to my life is family and the people I love, being authentically myself, loving hard, laughing alot and being surrounded by real intimacy and not fakery. I genuinely hope that you find your happy and stop being so hard on yourself, you deserve it 💜
@Amanda84 Thank you for your words
@helpfulLemon8320 you are most welcome 💜🥰

What do you want to make you life not dull?
life is what you make it regardless of where you start.
It sounds like you compare yourself to others or what you think are social norms etc. Being excited and engaged in life does not always need advantages to accomplish. Finding that " thing" for you may be harder if you are looking in the wrong direction.
i get where ur coming from
feeling dull must suck cuz u don’t enjoy doing anything
try doing things to boost adrenaline and hangout w people who enjoy stuff like that
it might help
orrrrr since u mentioned ur always with people
try to do things by urself
do activities people usually do alone like paint, go on walks, read
yk try to get to know urself better and i’m so sure u will find something u can enjoy
@frankSugar400 It's been one heck of a ride of getting to know myself so far.
have u tried spending time by urself
Hello do you still remember the last time you feel genuinely happy?
@helpfulLemon8320 I'd love to talk more with you.
@LdnBeauty2 Sure. Shoot me a message any time.
@helpfulLemon8320 I don't know how to do that listener-to-listener. Do you?
@helpfulLemon8320
I’m right there with you dude. Got a decent life, not ugly, not a lack of connections, still depressed. Let me know if you find what you’re looking for. Sometimes I think maybe we’re privileged to have these issues. I don’t know.
@DansLeVide Ironically I've heard before that depression/suicide is a privilege of the wealthy (meaning developed countries especially here in the States)
I wouldn't say I'm "depressed" although I've certainly felt that feeling before.. just like I've felt every other feeling.
I clearly have talent and can do awesome things with my life as I'm sure you have it as well but it's like .. okay? I can't exactly put it in words.
Best of luck to you man.
When everything feels so stagnant the easiest way to get out of it is change the environment you live in . i believe you are searching for your purpose. Something which drives and motivates you but also challenges you to touch your limits. Something which excites you by just the thought of it. Without that dream its easy to get lost. I am guessing this is the case.
Either ways wishing you more luck and prosper

In my humble opinion, modern lifestyle is very much disconnected from nature and I believe this is the reason many people feel something in lacking in their lifes.
A walk in the woods, a swim in the sea, growing plants, touching the soil with bare hands, I find those are gestures that reconnect a human being with their nature's side.
I strongly believe that taking care of your natural side will help with the dull feeling.
