Hi

I found out recently that the name 7 cups has pagan meaning to it therefore this site is not acceptable for Christians or anybody who tries to live as a Christians, it was very sad and stressful to learn this, and I have had to leave, I just wanted to say goodbye to people here, and thank you so much for the care the listeners support, kind messages and Love.

Take care

As @Farrah17 has left, can anyone else explain this pagan meaning?

Is it a reference to the Tarot card? I thought we got the Tarot from Catholic Italy.

@RarelyCharlie

Hi! 😊❤️

If I remember correctly, 7 cups was named after a poem. The 7 of cups in the tarot deck is merely a coincidence. Kind of funny though to hear the tarot has it's roots in Catholicm. Thank you for the info! *high fives* 😊 and *hugs* ❤️

@SparkyGizmo Oh yes, it comes from an ancient Chinese poem, but there is nothing particularly religious about the poem so I cannot imagine it being thought of as pagan. Maybe, though, anything not Christian counts as pagan?

It's not that the Tarot has roots in Catholicism, exactly, only that it became popular in Catholic Italy and didn't seem to cause religious conflict at the time. But I am no historian 🤔

@Farrah17 Ah, so it is about the poem! Thank you for explaining. Yes, I agree that the poem carries bad meaning—and not only for Christians, I suspect.

Yeah, the 7 of Cups *is* a Tarot card. Some could see this in a pagan light. Though I don't think of it that way. If she sees that as "pagan," we'll, that's on her. Sorry to be callous, but people will see the worst if they go looking for it. It may seem innocuous to most, but those who feel their souls are instantly sullied & damned, that's on them.

Just how I see it. I'm usually not that blunt, but I find this a stupid hill to die on. Sorry Farrah, but I stand by what I said.

I hear what you are saying and your feelings are valid AND it seems 7cups has helped you. I have never encountered any proselytizing on here except if the listener put that on their profile and made themselves open to people with religious affiliation/beliefs. 7 cups has been a wonderful positive thing for many people. Good luck in finding peace and know 7cups will be here if you need it!

@Farrah17 Sorry to see you go! I'm a Christian and I'm here to practice active listening, which I think is a great thing to have in your ministry toolkit. But to each their own. Best of luck with your faith journey!

i mean i'm a christian, and i don't have a problem with it since the paganism is only rooted in the name, but you are free to do what you feel would be best for your faith. take care <3
