In pain, in need

March 29th, 2025

I am a distraught young girl and am plagued by horrific mental issues. But unfortunately, my forum posts are not receiving the comments and advices which I seriously need at this time. 0-3 comments except my first post, it's all I get. I don't know why. Unrequited love coupled with severe OCD often triggered by the former is gnawing at me and I need support.

My family is loving and affluent but zealously adheres to certain dogmas, and gets embarrassed when I tell them about my problems and do not allow me to resort to or even talk about therapy. So this is the only venting space I have got, and I really need support.

I don't know what ornamental prose do I need to get the requisite comments and advices; all I know is that I am suffering and I need support.

Don't ever think you can't count on us, because you do need emotional support from someone while you don't have support from anyone else. ✌✌ God Bless you.

I listen to a podcast called "*** Childhood Fairy"

One topic that comes up often is the Idea of Limerence. Your unrequited love for 10 years and that the other person had to block you eventually reminds me of some of the stories there. Perhaps this is a topic that could be researched if you are not familiar.

For some it becomes sort of an addiction to think about the unavailable person and to try to imagine that some little things might have meaning towards a love someday. Like constantly rethinking and decoding every little thing looking for signs they Love you also.

I had such crushes for extended times when I was young and can relate to an extent. I am not sure how this interacts with OCD.

Holistically enriching your life so there is as little emptyness as possible is an approach has helped me at various hard times in my life. Having physical, spiritual, emotional, intellectual, social, self care. Is important. So is art and music and eating new and interesting things. Hobbies and volunteering help also.

You feelings are real and so is the pain they can bring and this has nothing to do with economics. People are wrong to dismiss your pain.

I hope you find things to be better soon.

@Sanvee11 I'm really sorry you're feeling this way. It sounds like you're in a tough spot, and I want you to know that your feelings are valid. You deserve support, and it's frustrating when you reach out but don’t get the responses you need.

I don’t know much about dealing with OCD, so I’m sorry that I can’t offer much help in that area.

But when it comes to unrequited love, here’s my advice, stay off social media. If you have a habit of looking at his pictures, break it. From my own (very recent) experience, that has helped me.

I’ve realized that the hardest steps are often the right ones. Another thing that helped was writing about it (paper doesn’t judge). Whenever you think of him, write it down, then immediately shift your thoughts to something positive.

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. I’ve spent the last eight years caught up in a one sided, imaginary romance with the girl of my dreams. Finding out she’s now in a serious relationship has made these past few days brutal. So, in some way, I can relate to what you’re feeling.

@brightDay6709 thank you so much for your kind advice. Yeah I will surely try it out. Sorry to know of your story too. It sucks when we are so devoted to someone, we have poured all our emotional and mental energy into just that person, and that person doesn't care one bit about us. One-sided love is horrible indeed.
