My Christmas Cards

Do you think people even care about my Christmas cards? I make several hundred every year… I sometimes wonder if they make a difference. Do they even matter to anyone?

@jesusredeemedme2425

I can't speak for other people but I know, to this day, I absolutely love receiving a Christmas card, it's special to see someone has made the effort to specifically think about me 💜💕

Some people say it’s the only Christmas card they get every year. I know people love them… I just feel discouraged this year for some reason. Like I’m doing this all for nothing. I’ve been working literally all year on them…

It's not for nothing, it's to put a smile on people's faces, sprinkling kindness is always worth it 💕💜

@jesusredeemedme2425

A several hundred? Wow. I never receive any cards ever. If I were to get one that was  personally made by you, I'd keep it close in my shelf in my precious folder like a memorabilia. I value material things that hold sentiments and love moreover. I'd never toss it away.

I understand that some people have the opposite opinion but to each their own. And this is just my take!

Imagining that itself makes me happy. 😊

@jesusredeemedme2425 The people that you make them for may appreciate the gesture and look forward to you doing that tradition each year!

Sending out Christmas cards is special, and I really miss it. I know if I got a Christmas card from someone, it would make me so happy that someone was thinking of me during the holidays. :) I think it's the energy and love you put into that makes it worthwhile.

I love receiving Christmas cards. We hang them on a yarn over some of the doors and it’s so festive.

I also mail them out because there are some people on my list who don’t do internet. Also, I know they will feel warm and good when they receive a card from me.

Several hundred is a lot so you must have a lot of people you care about. 💚♥️

@jesusredeemedme2425 Christmas cards are special. One done by hand... Would be something truly amazing. I don't get many cards but the few that I do, are important to me. To make someone's card list is really nice.

May I ask what has you thinking they don't matter?

I don’t even know if people notice they’re handmade.

One guy threw away my card, in front of me, several years ago. He says he doesn’t remember doing that.

What if these people get TONS of Christmas cards and gifts and love every year, all year, and my efforts are barely noticed?

Idk.

@jesusredeemedme2425 Peach had the same question that I did. There's that saying, "helping someone might not change the world but it could change the world for that one person. If it makes the difference in just one persons life that makes it worthwhile doesn't it?

The guy that threw the card away in front of you was rude and inconsiderate. Don't let the actions of one thoughtless imbecile ruin this.
Maybe you could scale the numbers down if doing so many is overwhelming?

***TW***

I try to remember that, but it’s hard to feel it until someone says, “Hey, that card made me feel loved” or “What you said stopped me from hurting myself, because I knew I wasn’t alone”. It’s the same as being on here. Does me being here and encouraging people actually matter? Or do I just sound like another voice in a vast crowd, saying the same things?

He really hurt me, and wasn’t even aware of it. It’s affected me, hurt me, even several years later… And he doesn’t even remember!

But I wanted to do more this year. Most people didn’t get hand-drawn cards last year. This year, EVERYONE gets one, and I still had some left over!

But I did feel pressured. By my own self! No one knew I planned to do this. Few do even now. But I had this internal pressure to do a BAZILLION cards and it stressed me out. Like, I literally didn’t have to. Yk?

@jesusredeemedme2425

You being on here does absolutely matter.

You are not just a voice in the crowd.

You are funny.

Unique.

Kind.

And the biggest difference about you, you are not going through the motions, you actually care 💕 💜

@jesusredeemedme2425 Omgosh Yes your being here matters! All the kindness you've shown so many here!  Many are grateful that you took the time to say a few kind words.  Just to know that they crossed someone's mind and thoughts means so much.

People don't think before they say or do things. I'm sorry he hurt you that way. It's understandable that you would be hurt by what he did and then he doesn't even remember?! That adds insult to injury. You took the time to make him a handmade card and anyone who makes things for someone, knows that we tend to put our hearts into it. What he did was basically a rejection. Your inner child was wounded... not for the first time I'm sure. That may be why it still hurts.

Do you think the pressure you put on yourself to do them comes from wanting to feel more valued, loved or accepted by these people? You're much more than the things you do for people ❤️

But what if I just sound like a parrot?

It takes soooo many months to finish these cards… I start in summer! This year, I started last December. For this year’s cards. I’ve been working on them all year! And I take pride in them. I couldn’t believe it when he threw it away… in front of me…

I think I just want to be… seen. Noticed. Have my talent appreciated by more people. That sounds so self-serving, because I really want people to feel loved with these cards. But the servant sometimes wants to be loved, too…

@jesusredeemedme2425 Then we would all sound like parrots wouldn't we? Everyone has their own perspective of how they view things and that person might help someone see things differently. Each of us here phrases things differently and we approach things differently but that doesn't mean that some are worth more ❤️

You dedicated a lot of time and effort into doing something that means a lot to you. You should take pride in doing them! It's thoughtful and each one is a Kiara original.

I don't think that's self serving at all! You're sharing your gift with others. To want some appreciation for them is natural. Unfortunately, people rarely act the way we hoped they would. Have you ever tried selling them some where like Etsy? There you would reach a larger group of people to see them. Even Pinterest would be a way to share them with more people. ❤️

I just feel like I’m saying the same things other people are.

I do. I rushed some. They didn’t turn out as good. I’m not proud of those…

I actually copy freehand off the internet (and don’t resell them or claim them as mine!), so I can’t sell them or anything.

@jesusredeemedme2425 I know sometimes I feel that way too and it sometimes prevents me from chiming in. I do think that every comment is appreciated, even if it similar to what others have said.

Maybe you could still post them on Pinterest and just have a disclaimer? I'm not sure how copyright laws work, so definitely look into it. Maybe you could share a few here now and again?
