Newbie looking for help
Hi all
Im new here and have just had a chat with a member that would like to stay in touch/regularly chat. How do I go about this?
Thanks :)
@burnttoast246
Ayo,
There are several ways to communicate on 7cups: listenrs, chats, threads... Take your time and you will find out what is comfortable for you.
Hey
Yeah im still figuring it out tbh!
Is there a feature to schedule regular chats with a member or stay in touch?
@burnttoast246
I don't know about regular basis chats, but there some people called Listeners, they are ready to talk, here https://www.7cups.com/BrowseListeners/
And i think you may just maintain your thread active, and communicate that way.
But in my opinion, the site's architecture isn't very convenient for private, ongoing communication with friends, if you find them
@RedOceanSun What difficulties do you have with ongoing chats with a listener when using your member account?
@AffyAvo
As far as i understand it can't be maintained continiously.
@RedOceanSun There are listeners I have chatted with for years.
The major site limitation is for teens with aging up. If a member has an active account, a listener has an active account, age groups match, and they don't block each other they can message each other as much as they like.
@burnttoast246 There's no specific scheduling or personal calendar option on 7cups.
Some will use the notes features to keep track of some chat information for themselves and then you can use whatever scheduling tools you use for other things to have a reminder you have a commitment here. Calendar, alarm, etc.
@AffyAvo
Thank you. I mean messaging, not a calendar or planner.
@burnttoast246
Hello Burnttoast, welcome to 7 Cups. I am both a "Member" and a "Listener" here.
When you are a member and want to chat with a specific "Listener" that Listener has to be online and then you can "Request Chat" from the "Chat" tab at the top right of the four tabs above your dashboard.
Other than that you can find "Posts" made by the person you wish to communicate with and respond/chat via those post threads.
Unfortunately those are the only two ways I know. Good luck my friend.
Namaste,
D.
@DireWolf62 You can send offline messages to a listener.
@AffyAvo
Ahhh yes, you are quite right my friend, I forgot about that in my "too hasty" reply.
Thank you.
Namaste,
D.
@burnttoast246 I suggest connecting with a mentor. They can help guide you with good listening practices, including tips for long-term member chats.
@burnttoast246
All your questions can be answered if you pop into the listener support room 🥰
Welcome to cups 💙 🤗

Hello

@burnttoast246
One of the communities here is called Pen Pals. You can post in that community and mention the name of the person. (For example @burnttoast246.). The person you want to chat with will be notified that they were mentioned in a post. If you both subscribe to that thread, then you'll both get regular notifications each time there's a new post.
Technically these are public conversations but I don't know how much time other users spend reading other people's pen pal threads.
@carefulEast6708 Pen pal threads are great, but I wouldn't advise an adult listener who is already chatting 1-1 with an adult member to suggest moving their communication to the forums. There's member has already chosen to initiate conversation in a private setting. If the member wants to move to a more public, moderated area that's ok but should be initiated by them.
Of course pen pals can be suggested by either if someone is aging up or for a teen member and an ATL who is going to lose access to the teen-side.
@AffyAvo
That's true! I was imagining two regular members, not a member and a listener.
I'm happy to chat with you :)
