No friends
How do you deal with the fact that you have no friends?
I have no one around me to turn to.
I also have a highly toxic family and always wanted to replace the gap by having friends.
I tried so much this year to go out more and talk to new people but for now nothing worked.
It just made me more sad and I am scared I will end up being friendless all my life. It's so sad being left alone all the time and feeling like you don't matter.
And please before you start with your self love lectures, I know that it's important I try to practice it daily. BUT social connections is a basic human need so sef love won't help me with this lack.
I also know that instead of getting discouraged I need to keep trying and talking to new people.
I will absolutely do this.
But today I jut needed to vent and express my frustration and just feel my feelings.
If anyone is going through the same thing as me I hope it will get better for you.
@Vector5 I'm really sorry you're feeling this way. It is incredibly painful and frustrating, especially when you're putting in so much effort and not seeing the results you hoped for. I can understand why you're tired of hearing about self-love when what you're really craving is that connection with others.
@Mya000
Thank you! I guess my main problem is patience. I have to keep trying even if it feels hopeless right now.
@Vector5 You're welcome! Patience can be really tough, but it’s great that you’re committed to trying. Every small step counts, even when things feel hopeless. You’ve got this 🧡
@Vector5 Hey Vector ole buddy. I'm sorry you're dealing with this. I understand. You're trying to make friends and make connections. Although that isn't working so far, it's still great that you're aware of your needs and trying. It can be really hard, seeking true authentic friendships. We have to remember others might not feel the same way or even understand which is hard, yet also valid. We can't control others nor should we try too. Life happens ya know. Please don't give up. You will find plenty of friends, I'm sure. Maybe not today or tomorrow, yet they will come around eventually. I'm always rooting for you, friend :)
I know what you mean. Here's what I did. I started going to my local library. They had programs i was interested in. I also checked out my local community center. They had a few interesting things. I started there. It takes time. .
I totally get it. Available to be your online friend on 7cups.
@Vector5 I saw your post, I've also been writing posts about how I don't have any friends etc. I also noticed that other people on this site are also writing posts about the same thing. One thing I can't understand is, there are people in this world that have bunches friends. So many that they don't even know what to do with them all! Yet there are people like us who struggle to get anyone to notice us. I'm confused by this.
@tryingtosurvive2024
I also noticed how many lonely people are here on cups. If you want to we can chat in the pen pal forum :)
@Vector5 I should look at that pen pal forum again.
A good tip is to look into groups of people who share hobbies. I know it's tough putting yourself out there, but if you do, it might suprise you how friendly people can be. I remember feeling a little lonely and I wanted to get healthier so I took up rock climbing. The first day I went out to a local spot, there were multiple groups of people who saw me climbing alone and offered to let me join them.
In my experience, friendships development quickly through hobbies and common bonds. I really hope this helps and you can find some good people to be in your life.
@Mezmer
I would love to try rock climbing! It sounds so cool! I've been thinking about joining a chess club. The thing is I'm insecure about my level in chess. It's not that good so I fear I might look stupid.
@Vector5 I think that holds true with any hobby. Nobody is good off the bat. That's the tough part, putting yourself out there. Trusting that nobody will think you're foolish, but quite the opposite. I think you should make a little list of things you've always wanted to try, and try them. Walk into a climbing gym, tell the person working there that you've never done it before and let them show you the way. Keep at it, and you'll make friends. Yoga is the same too. Very beneficial.
i really get this. i have "friends", but even then, i feel like i don't have any. i deal with the same notions that you go through, but as for me i kind of try getting substitutes of it. it's hard to find genuine in person friendships, and it's even harder to make in this digital self-fixated era too. thus, i pretty much hold on a lot to self-expression where i have to "talk" or "put my voice out there". journalling, writing on a blog, listening and responding to people in 7cups online, or becoming a member and finding a listener here too to honestly chat with. it's a shaky and minor substitute, but it does help. what's your substitute and how do you cope?
loneliness bites, and i am here with all love, support, presence, and wish that you're in or will be, in a better place filled with contentment and fulfillment that meets all your social needs and fix 🤍
@Vector5
I get it. Sometimes you need some space to be seen and heard and that is important. I can't imagine how frustrated you feeling. However, I am proud of you for making an effort to go and meet some people which I think was very brave.
@Summershy
Thank you! I didn't even think of it as brave. You made me feel better about myself. At least I tried. I want to keep trying when I will have more energy and hopefully things will work out.
@Vector5
In the mean time, what are your interests?
Hey @Vector5 I understand how stuff has been going on for you. I'm not here to provide you any advice coz I believe others have done that very well. I'm just here to let you know that I'm here to be your friend, you can always turn to me, talk to me. Share your feelings and frustration. I'm just a message away.
wow!!!
1st of all
wow when I saw this!!
absolruely I am in same situation
the thing is
(sry the typos)
having same struggles in family
also tried to replace it this way
now I’m like letting it flow n be
no more running chasing or going extra miles
what will be will be
also being your own best friend
u still got ypurself
i also comfort myself w this
i also got no one around me no close friends not friends that I could talk to
this loneliness n anxiety is here daily
so to orocess
going through feelings
validate then all
always *them
it cant always be like giving n trying n then when they fail to or can’t give back the same amount of support n care or similar or care n love
ufs not like we can always pour into ourselves the same we didn’t get in return from others or they couldn’t reciprocate
bcs it can leave us without that spark n hapiness
im there too
its natural it’s what we need to have from others as we deserve!
my inner child suffer the most from this
all my life been trauma n no friends
n when ur family is not that understanding n sippriyive
uts incredibly being this strong on daily basis
im just wanted to say that this is what we can be always proud of even when it’s dcary
our feelings are
sorh
totaly
valid
So it’s like going to vent to safe spaces like these is our every day chance n whether mindful observation or walks or journal or these spaces where we can let it all put “ out” no matter how many times it’s the space we need
its all so very valud
n ee matter every day so these feelings will come back even when we accept it n at the time of peak of these feelings I can’t do much than to go through cause it makes me scared or weak so to soeak
the venting n talking or writing it out is whats the best done
we all struggle or suffer
it’s hard to make ppl care when we don’t have those friends
but never stop hoping n wishing for it
to find those ppl we need
who will be that caring
i am trying same but in online
they must be somewhere n I sincerely hope we both find them!!
best of all
