“One Percent Better” Challenge!
If you’ve ever read the Slight Edge, you know about this general idea.
Starting December 1st, we are all (yes, that means you, and me, and everyone else who wants to join!) going to do something small that will make our lives 1 percent better every day!
Not sure what this looks like?
Here’s a few examples:
Eat a strawberry along with your cookie
Read one page of a book
Drink two more sips of water
Write one line in your journal
Delete one email
Put your clothes out for the next day
March in place for 5 seconds every time you use the bathroom
Put away one thing that’s near you
Look up the meaning to one word
Text one friend
Drink tea instead of soda for one meal
You get the idea.
BUT!
Don’t go “typical” if you possibly can. Think outside the box. Come up with something super random every day to make your life a TINY bit better! Just 1%. Google it. Ask AI to give you ideas. Ask friends. I don’t care how you do it hehe!
Just post about it and tell us about your adventures! Tag someone, who you think might enjoy this challenge <3
December is OUR month. Let’s CRUSH it! <3
I suppose it's a positive, but I told the doctor the truth about family history, which I knew would trigger additional diagnostic procedures. It's a positive because I've been avoiding telling her for a few years now.
@Spiritriver
Well done. It's a very brave move💚

Hello, I love this idea! The thought of making life just 1% better each day feels both doable and powerful. Small steps really do add up over time; they build momentum and resilience.
For me, I'd start with:
Writing one line of gratitude in my notes before shutting down my laptop.
Adding a quick stretch every time I refill my water glass.
Reading a single paragraph from a book that challenges my thinking.
It's amazing how even tiny actions can shift our mindset and energy.
December really can be our month of small wins that add up to something bigger, but it should continue from January 1st to December 31st.
I’ll admit it… I didn’t do my own challenge yesterday. I failed lol
BUT
Today I got up earlier and had a more relaxing, less frazzled morning hehe
@jesusredeemedme2425 it´s okay to take it easy, you are doing great 😊
I don’t wanna take it easy, I wanna be better <3
@jesusredeemedme2425 well, you can get better casually too 😁
How so lol
@jesusredeemedme2425 a task done poorly is better than not at all 👜 It keeps me from spiraling into the all or nothing mindset, since i tend to not return to things when my streak is broken, or i overdo it and then burn out. So just be mindful of your energy levels, don´t try to fix everything all at once, and take a better than nothing approach and then you can make a long term change without it being overwhelming or beating yourself up over setbacks. It´s actually tematic with the challange, of 1% better is still improvement 😊
Very good! Having more time in the morning is so good.
Don't be too hard on yourself. If you want to keep momentum going after you miss a day, think: Don't miss twice (I got that from Atomic Habits)
@jesusredeemedme2425 been to therapy today, went through the fridge, threw out all expired food and organized the rest, did some grocery shopping and removed a problematic and unsafe part of my jeans 😊
Curious about the last part lol
@jesusredeemedme2425 It had this strass ribbon thingy on it´s side, but these strasses were in these metal base thingies that had 4 closing flaps each and they kept scratching me up every time i wore it and getting caught in my sweathers, damaging them. All these silverish things you see are the metal flaps that took disliking me as their personal mission (the strasses themselves are black, so not really visible)

The scratching was especially problematic, since i did wear a bracelet that had a damaged clasp and it got me a warts virus skin problem that I will never be free of again, it can pop up any time when it pleases again. It has been in remission for a few years now, but i don´t want to add to my collection with another consistent metal scratches. So as much as i loved how it looked as a detail (thrifted them a while ago), it had to go. I will replace it with some soft decor instead that won´t injure me
Strass?
How did it give you warts????
@jesusredeemedme2425 not the strass, that was a metal clasp on a bracelet that was sharp and scratched me up. The dirty metal and the open wounds it kept causing allowed the virus to enter my body, as you get it through open wounds. And once you got it, you won't get rid of it. Like. It can be dormant for some time, but can also reappear at any moment, coming and going as it pleases, usually depending on your immune system. And I'm so grateful I haven't had it pop up in a long time now.
What’s strass?
Awww that sounds uncomfortable :(
@jesusredeemedme2425 these diamond/crystal/whatever like shiny rocks, but fake lol. Yep. The clasp was damaged and i kept wearing it despite it scratching me up every time, even after my (then) best friend i got it from replaced me right in front of my own eyes and started to treat me like crap. But I liked the bracelet too much and didn´t want to throw it away. Quite a fitting metaphor to that friendship, in a way.

Today I called someone that I hadn't called in months and I am going to change my sheets, which I hadn't done in too long.
@easyScarf7950 i should do that too 😅
That’s your task today hehe
@jesusredeemedme2425 it´s late for that, i can´t vacuum the bed, it´s almost 8, my neighbours won´t appreciate
I’m afraid to ask why you’d be vacuuming the bed lol
@jesusredeemedme2425 i vacuum the mattress every time we change bedsheets. Keeps it from getting unnecessary dust and stuff. Since once the furniture gets the dust smell, it´s not really going to come out. And vacuuming keeps it fresh
Today I will tweak my routine: after my son and I are done playing with Play-Doh and we've put it all away, we will sweep the floor.
@jesusredeemedme2425
Here's what my chatgpt suggested that stood out to me:
"Compliment something in your room( damn lamp, you're doing great) "
Sounds so fun and uplifting to do this😂😂
Also thanks for the tag! Sorry i saw it late.
Bruh what XD AI comes up with some SUPER random things sometimes lolllll
@jesusredeemedme2425 didn't do much today, just met up with a friend and cooked a bit. I bought some ribbon to sew on my jeans to replace the unsafe one I had, but I didn't measure it, thinking I can wing it. And I bought too little 😢 so couldn't sew it up in case they won't have that one anymore
Hey, baby steps! And do what you can <3
@jesusredeemedme2425 tomorrow will be Christmas baking day with my cousin. Yay
I'm trying to have a relaxing evening before bed. I did this last night, I started earlier and read.
